Mid-season changes...Golfwrxer or something else?

jjfcpa

Recommended Posts

A couple months ago, I thought my bag and such were all set. Here I am a few months later and I'm thinking about making wholesale changes to my golf equipment.

Examples?

Just pulled my 2020 Chrome Soft from the bag and resupplied with Maxfli Tour.

Just pulled my MD5 Jaws 58*, 54*, and 48* and replaced them with a Honma set 48* and an RTX-4 56*.

Just ordered a Tour Edge 3w to replace my Mavrik 3w.

Is that just being a true Golfwrxer or should I seek professional help?

Ping i210 Px LZ (3-PW) replaced my 2018 Apex MB (2-PW) Px RiflesMizuno ST200 replaced my Epic SZ driver. Wilson Staff Model SW and LW kicked out my RTX-4.I did entertain replacing my Epic SZ strong 3 wood but she’s a keeper. The new stuff all fell short.

Wasn't there a thread last week that showed that the best players rarely change equipment?

By professional help, are you talking about golf club fitters or psychiatrists?

Sorry, but the shrinks can't help you. They're just as conflicted about bag mix as we are.

I'm bogeypro and I'm a club ho. I just bought a set of AP2 like I had bought and sold before. I know I have a problem, but I had a bad round with my previous irons so they had to go. Just like my sponsor always says... it's never me, it's always the clubs.

I get if you lost confidence in a club, I lost confidence in my 60Β° threw in a new one and it has paid for itself already. A full iron set I'd have to have some serious issues to change.

Exactly, and thank you Bogeypro for repeating the club ho anonymous motto,

"Its never me, its always the clubs "

In true fashion, we can all testify to how well therapy works, guilt free acknowledgement so we can get back to playing the game, with something new, and most importantly, guilt free.

I would say it depends why you switched, as someone stated before if you've lost confidence in your clubs then I don't think you have a problem. I replaced basically my entire bag in the off season, with my irons being the Cleveland VAS. I played almost 50 rounds with them, and they had eliminated the right side of the course for me, unfortunately they did so too well and were going too far left, too often for my liking. So I purchased a set of Cleveland 588 mt's. Of course as I was waiting for the new irons to arrive, I started hitting the old ones a little better lol. I've played a few rounds with the 588's and I'm really liking them, the D wedge feels like it's becoming a great weapon for me.

But if you switched gear just to switch, then you may have a problem. Except you don't, because it's your game, your money lol. The other half of why I bought the 588's is because I also wanted something a little newer in the bag as well. While constantly switching gear probably doesn't help with lowering your score overall, maybe you're goal is like mine, try to score well but mostly just try to enjoy the round.

All of that being said, I hope your new clubs are treating you well.

Thanks for asking. I really like how they look at address, the feel is crisp and ground interaction is precise especially for today where it is drying out. Had them on a wet day as well and the divots were flush. Very versatile under wet and dry conditions.

Able to open the face as well to get more height and effective bounce.

I've changed some mid season as well. Changed from sm7 wedges to raw rtx4s. Switched my 3 wood to a 13.5 910fd. Changed 3 hybrid to f6 baffler 17.5. Other then that I'm set for the rest rest of the year.

As you can see from my sig I don’t change often but I love testing which means my clubs are never safe in my bag if I find a gem.
