Srixon Z Forged VS Z965. Which one?

Hey Guys,

I have a new Set of Srixon Z965 Irons and want to put other Shafts in them. Now a deal caught my eye and I can get the Z forged with my Shaft of Choice for a great Price.

I find the Z965 relatively easy to hit, not really blade like, like Titleist MB and others. So no Problem in gaming them from 5-P. And the Head Size is ok, I definitely don't want a bigger Head than this. Always turns me off. Even an AP2 is smaller than the 965.

What are your thoughts between the 2 Irons? I see no Tungsten in the Toe on the Z forged.

Is the Z forged smaller (Topline and Blade length) than the Z965?Forgiveness between the two? Sole more narrow on the Z Forged or equal?anything else what you have to mention? Thanks a lot for your Input and Help.

Regards

I'd suggest getting the deal on the Z Forged and selling the 965's instead of messing about with shaft changes. I had the Z965's a couple of years ago and imo the Z-Forged are far nicer.

There's not as much "excess toe metal" as the Z965. Something I never really liked...I prefer a boxier looking head at address.

Wouldn't say they're noticeably smaller or bigger. Just a nicer shape to my eye. Nicer looking sitting in the bag too!As blades go, I'd say they're more forgiving than most. I'm contemplating replacing the 4/5 to the Z785 just for that bit more forgiveness though! Feels like they might have less bounce than the 965. That's my feeling on hard pan turf...V sole might be a different size. Maybe someone could confirm if this feeling is right! Probably equal in sole width. Doesn't stick out that they're majorly different apart from the V sole. More pronounced in the 965 I think.Good luck!

I have played both but I played the 965 longer because it was so easy to hit. Excellent performer and it is not intimidating at all. In my book the 965 and Mizuno MP5 have been about the easiest to hit musclebacks of recent vintage.

I also prefer round shaping in irons, which some complain about with the 965. To me the boxier it looks the less I will like it. The Z Forged are pretty but I didn’t hit them as well.
