If Webb Simpson wins this weekend should he be #1 in the world or Bryson DeChambeau?

Webb and Bryson are just two shots back after today. When do the update the world rankings next?

What has Rory done lately? I like Rory but he struts around like #1 while his playing has not been very good.

Also has Bryson become the most exciting and maybe one of the most consistent golfers on tour? This weekend should be good.

I don’t think the world ranking takes into consideration strutting.

Before the Covid-19 stopped the world of professional golf stone cold here is the run Rory was on. BDC can't touch this run. BDC will regress soon to his mean as every professional golfer has. Anybody, especially GC. comparing him to Tiger because of a nice run of top 10's are clueless. Same with people thinking BDC is better than Rory now because Rory hasn't been sharp for 3 weeks. LMFAO.

capture-png.pngPlease wake me when BDC can match any of this. Or any season of Tigers seasons between 1999-2003.

Rory won 4 times last year and the Fed-Ex Cup. In this year's standings, he's 4th. He's had an average return since the lockdown, but still made 3 cuts and finished T11 in his last event. Rory is well deserving world number 1.

Worth pointing out that Rory has won 4 times since DeChambeau last won. Which included the Players, the Tour Championship and a World Golf Championship.

The OWGR was paused during the lockdown and currently looks at results going back to week ~15 of 2018 (more than the normal 2 year period with a hole recently, so 104 weeks of top level pro golf).

Recent results count more heavily and playing a lot during the oldest periods can hurt your ranking even if you played well. I.e. In weeks 15-19 of 2018, Webb played 3 tournaments (t5, t21 and a win at The Players). Had he skipped those 3 events, his OWGR "average" would go up from 7.1751 to 7.5874 and he would be ranked 4th this week instead of 6th.

Of course not. Did I need to write "this weekend"?

Assuming it is a wash for one year, and then the following year:

One guy plays 8 times a year and wins 3 times including 2 majors, and another guy plays 35 times a year and wins 5 times with no major wins, but places in the top 5 in 3 majors, who should be #1 between those 2?

All of the Euro Tour players are watching in disbelief as they plummet down the rankings because they can’t compete for ranking points...seems a bit unfair to say the least.

#1 in the World???

“The new sheriff in town????”

“He’s changing the way future generations will approach the game”

ohhhhhhhh f*************ck??

He hasn’t won a friggin PGA event in a year and a half+ ???

Oh, I didn’t count his run of Top-5’s, Top-10’s, 25lbs of muscle, PhD thesis like approach to the game, yada yada yada??????

GTFOH‼️‼️‼️

When ole Brandy’s a Sunday Back-Niner, and racks up some Victories on a regular basis, as the #1 Players in the World USED to have to do, then you can chirp all ya want about him changing the game.

The only thing that he’s changed in the last two months is his shirt size, and since he doesn’t even pay for those, I ain’t countin that!!

Today, Sat 07/04/20, he’s averaging 345yds off the tee with two 360yd+ drives and he’s -1 through 6 holes and 2 strokes outa the lead at -12.

He just followed up a 335yd drive on a Par 5 with a 201 chunk into the front right greenside trap???

What’s 201yds for him, a 7i or 8i???????

He flat out chunks a MID/HIGH IRON!!!

His Playin partner, Mark Hubbard, who he’s out drivin by 44yds+/drive is one ahead of him at -13, lol

Who the h*ll is Mark Hubbard?????

Yah, Brandy’s a #1?????

Between he & Webb???

Seriously???

???GTFOH

Oh, this thread is about the OWGR points, and I careened off the road, missed the bend & went over the cliff??

Hahaha, what’s new??‍♂️

As always, just my .03 worth?
