Chicago to FL course suggestion

My wife and I are going to our family beach house in Florida in a few weeks. In efforts to stay away from people and airports we canceled our flights and are driving. I am looking for the best courses to play between the Nashville and Birmingham area. Circled on the map below. We may go out of the way and play in Mississippi (west point area) if there is nothing worth playing on this route. Further into Alabama the better. Public is preferred, I don't really want to try and get on a private and ask my pro back home to try and get me a time on a Saturday morning.

Greystone in dickson just outside of nashville. Also any of the RTJ trail courses along the way capitol hill complex or cambrian ridge.

So I have no knowledge of the RTJ golf trail. Any must play courses, which ones are the best? Looking at Ross Bridge as top option of RTJ trail right now and Farmlinks as a non RTJ option. Any opinions on the two?

the oxmoor rtj site in b'ham has two courses, but one of them has shiite greens right now that won't get fixed anytime soon ... the other has bent greens which are now being watered every night/morning to keep them alive, so even though they are in decent shape, they are very soft and a touch slow (and the course is pure target golf on almost every hole) ... you could play ross bridge, which is usually in pretty good shape, but it's a bit pricey ... farmlinks is a very good course, but it's a bit out of the way ... h'ville has a good site from what i hear, though it's not that far into the state ... montgomery has 3 courses, but one of them i think is in the process of getting new greens (which would've gone to the 2nd course at oxmoor if a fungus had not hit this winter) ... ross or montgomery are the best options, probably ...

Louisville -> Chariot Run or Heritage Hill

Nashville -> Greystone or Gaylord Springs

Nash-Birm.-> Sweetens/Farmlinks/Gunter’s Landing/Sewanee

RTJ Sites -> Silver Lakes & Cambrian Ridge

I realized the hotel at Ross Bridge is a Marriott so that really makes things easy because we have a ton of points. Going to drive to Birmingham Friday from Chicago. Stay the night, get an early as possible early tee time then finish the drive to the gulf. It is basically directly on the route. Farmlinks was very intriguing but for convenience sake I think this makes the most sense.

When I looked at doing a trip to this part of the US, I thought that Olde Stone in KY was worth a look. They have a very cool lodge and a decent golf course. Just in KY north of Nashville.

Otherwise Sewanee and Sweetens Cove make a top level 9 hole pair close to each other but nearer Chattanooga which may be off your route.

Then Pursell Farms looks interesting and the RTJ Trail courses also. Of those Cambrian Ridge (near Montgomery) may be on your line south.
