PXG Gen 3 Woods???

With the success of their Proto driver (have had mine for about a month and love it), I would think they would want to get the rest of the woods out to market. Any tour seeding or other news about them?

Gen 3 fairway woods due out this Fall, according to the PXG rep I saw last weekend.

So the Proto driver officially becomes the Gen3 driver?

That’s what my rep told me.

Any movement on the hybrid front? I just ordered a 19 degree hybrid after a fitting and I was blown away by it (my hybrids are hook machines for me but this played my stock baby draw).

Proto technology in Gen 3 woods and hybrids will make for another expensive year, we'll start seeing them roll out late this year with a January release...

I hope I get my Gen2 hybrids before the 3’s come out.

I don't get anything special out of the Gen 2 fairways. However, when i got fit for my Proto driver, i made an impulse purchase of the Gen 2 hybrid (22 deg). The hybrid is unbelievable. Best surprise purchase in a really long time.

I don’t know. My Gen2 3 wood is a beast. In fact too long so it’s in the backup bag. I hit a couple late last year in places I’ve never been (one was a lake 270 out) the other is a long par 4 and I hit it over the bunkers and then into the trees in front. Only 80 yards to the flag but no shot as I was behind the trunk. It was long enough that I couldn’t hit it on a lot of holes I would normally tee up a 3 wood as it was carrying me into trouble.

the only issue for me with the 3 wood is off the deck. I like shallower heads and why I’m currently gaming the Mavrik SZ 3 wood. Easy to hit off the deck.

Agree the Gen2 hybrids are great. I’m currently gaming the SIM but it has a GOST shaft in it and when I switched out to the GOST is helped with my big miss to the left and I gained about 10 yards. So I ordered a GOST shaft for my Gen2 hybrid. Once it gets here I can do a test on the range with the Mevo and see the numbers.

I can’t wait to hear how it goes. With a hybrid I’m more about consistency than distance.

The left miss is why I went away from the Gen2 hybrid. When I went after it, I had a tendency to really turn it over. Issue is on the back 9 of a course I play a lot, left is always OB. Especially the par 5’s when I’m within 230-240 I go with the hybrid and then over in the lake to the left. Haven’t had that problem with the SIM since the GOST shaft but I did before with the Hzrdus. So I figured I’d try the GOST in the Gen2 as I love how it feels when I hit it well. Hoping it helps as I want the Gen2 in the bag. So easy to hit off the deck with that beast. My miss with the GOST is a baby fade or dead straight. When hit on the numbers it’s a baby draw now.

I have a 22 incoming to fit between my 5W and 3W, since at altitude the lack of lift on the ball starts to bunch the 4i and 5i a bit. So going to try the 4H for here. I could easily see myself turning down the 4H to 20.5 and the 5W to 16.5 to travel and put the 4i back in the bag when at sea level. Its an experiment, but I get the feeling it may be just such an easy club to hit straight and flight down into wind, its exciting. My ego at 32 years old with 109 SS however... haha

Has anyone compared the Proto directly to the Mav or the SIM?

It beat my Mav SZ for me, but that was mostly due to the increased forgiveness while still offering low spin.

Just to confirm... what beat Mav SZ, Proto or Proto+? Thanks.

Heading to a fitting for PXG woods and Hybrids in a couple weeks so curious what they have to say on the Gen3 wood release in Canada ??

Proto 0811X
