Oldest club in a Tour players bag?

After seeing a few of the WITB for Maverick McNealy (Nike Covert 3W), Steve Stricker (913 Titleist Driver) and Daniel Berger (Taylor Made TP MC), It got me wondering what the oldest club a tour pro is still gaming these days? I would probably eliminate putters from this discussion because Tiger still games his Scotty from late 90s/early 2000s. What other clubs am I missing?

Stricker still rolls that old odyssey putter as far as I know. Same with Snedeker. Fred Couples had a Callaway Squareway in the bag forever but I think it’s been replaced.

Tour players with an old club or two in the bag are getting rarer as equipment companies push them to play the latest models. We may see the odd 3 wood or an older putter here and there.

I had a corporate boondoggle sponsored by some mutual fund company at Angeles National 15 years ago or so...Scott Verplank was the featured pro and he played a hole with every foursome....a driveable par 4...he had the same putter as me! A Ping Anser 2 (I bought in 1987 - first club I ever bought)...had some sort of tennis grip wrap on it, but otherwise was identical.

Needless to say, our games did not resemble one anothers in any way.

He was driving around later and came up to our foursome on a par four...about 130 from hole (scramble)...hops out of cart, drops ball, and sticks it to 2 feet.

Adam Scott's irons from 2002.

I’ll guess it’s a 3 wood or a 2 iron. Those 2 clubs are the toughest for a player to trust and replace (aside from putter).

A better title would be Scott is playing 2002 Titleist blades 2-pw. Who is playing a club older than that? Piercy I think plays same irons too.

That is amazing, 18 year old clubs is mind blowing. They get bent out of shape from travel, practice and play and players have them bent back. Even if he did that just 4x a year the hosels must be as tight as warm wax by now. Are they the 2003 model or has he used the same set since 2003? I’m guessing the 2003 model but not the same set this entire time.

I honestly didn't put any though into it until he showed what clubs they were not long ago. I bet you are right that he has had a couple sets of them. He may have even tried something else and switch back to them at some point. Stricker's 755 irons look older but were from 2008.

Titleist produced some additional sets a few years ago. There are likely enough heads laying around for AS for as long as he will play (5-10 years at this level).

Correct, to make the forging worthwhile they made, I think it was around 1,000 sets and sold them in limited quantities to the public so whilst they first came out in 2002, the heads themselves are new or relatively new.

Spieth is still gaming his 915F fairway wood which has been in his bag since 2014. Not massively old but it’s definitely getting there. JT still has 915Fd 5 wood in the bag as well.

Spieth had the TS2 3 wood for a while. Both are claiming the newer versions go too far. I've always wanted a 915Fd 18* and the 915 D5 as well...

How old is Tiger's putter? Late 1990's?

McDowell's putter is pretty ancient too.

Langer still has 99 Hogan Apex long irons in the bag. Other players may have old putters still.

Not really. Still uses Apex 4 shafts in his irons but no Hogan clubs. Bernhard Langer WITB 2020

That happened many times. There were many backups kept around over the years.

He finally switched 3w for good this past season.

Brandt Snedeker’s putter has been in there for what seems like forever as well.
