Callaway Mavrik Max *Fast* Driver

Callaway definitely doesn’t put much thought into the names of their products. I’m assuming that these may be the "Star" versions of the Mavrik.

In addition to the cyclone shape, weight reduction further speeds up The head of the MAVRIK MAX FAST driver uses the same cyclone shape as the MAVRIK (standard). Unlike the past, the crown has a flat shape, and the sole has a shape that rises toward the rear. This greatly reduces the air resistance of the head. It contributes to increase the head speed. In addition, part of the sole is made of tri-axial carbon, and the neck is also an adhesive hosel to reduce weight. By reducing air resistance and reducing weight, it is designed to increase head speed and swing easily.

Thinking the marketing folks found "Fast" better than "Star" for Asian markets.

Colorway on that is horrible. Hope it looks better in real life.

Seems that market generally gets that black/gold color way.

Is it DRAW-ier biased?

Thought the same thing until I saw all the extra carbon on the toe side of the bar across the sole. The Star/JDM stuff the last few years has been lighter not hook-ier. That weight in the heal does give off the impression that it wants to go left.

next year’s version will be called “quicky”.

Reduce weight on heel by removing the adjustable hosel only to put it right back with an actual weight. This screams Dick's Sporting Goods.

When does it come to a point when the heads are so light they become a negative in the swing? The Sim Max was so light I had to get weight added as I couldn’t feel the head in my swing. This seems like the same?

Totally different story with this vs. sim max. This club is intentionally light and for a narrow segment. Very little press for TS1 and Epic Star type clubs. I think, although I’m willing to be proven wrong, that these super light clubs are mainly tools for fitters. I’m not sure tons of people are buying this without being fit into this club.

Sorry to hijack the Max conversation (followed link from another conversation). I am looking for updates on the next gen Titleist and Ping drivers. Any news is appreciated. Need a new driver and like the TS and G series but heard new stuff on the way. Thanks
