Is GCQuad taking over the PGA tour?

Most pros I follow on Instagram are now using GC Quad instead of Trackman

Rory, Rahm, Finau, Phil, Na, Fleetwood and the list keeps growing.

Did Bryson had something to do with it?

Probably depends what they are after?? Club data vs ball flight data.

My guess is Quad is closer in ballflight to real than trackman club data is. Also quad is easier to move around the course on practice rounds.

Trackman is better at true ballflight since it watches the actual flight of the ball go up and come down.

GCQuad is better at delivery - ball spin, club data, etc. This shows them the changes they are making rather than just the results.

Trackman is the “what”, GCQuad is the “why”. This is why Bryson uses both a radar and the GCQuad haha.

OEM's use Quad when testing prototypes in R&D. They use trackman outdoors on the range. So if players are testing clubs it makes much more sense to use the QUAD. IMO if i had cash to buy one I'd go with the QUAD all day.

Very well said. It also makes sense because why would a pro need to see "true ball flight" outdoors assuming they have two functioning eyes? ?

What does Tiger use at his home sim? He claims to practice there more than at the medalist.

Bryson uses his Flightscope for club data and the GCQuad for ball data which is the exact opposite approach you guys are suggesting. I also highly doubt the PGA tour players are putting stickers on their clubs every time they want to see some numbers. That means they are using Quad for ball data only which makes NO sense because Trackman measures the ball during it's entire flight while Quad measures it for 6 inches.

Do you have pictures of Rahm, Rory, Finau etc. using GCQuad on the range at a tour event? All of those guys own Trackman and when Finau was showing his 200mph ball speed about a month ago he was showing Trackman numbers at home.

My guess is Foresight is throwing money around for endorsements trying to get more exposure because for the last 5-10 years all you have seen is Trackman on PGA tour ranges.

Doesn't Trackman require markers on the ball to get accurate spin numbers? That would fit with GCQuad being the better option for ball data.

Only indoors on high speed shots (driver).

He uses both. I mean that makes sense because he has the indoor Sim and right behind him he has a door that opens to the outdoor driving range so that checks out

Any pictures with stickers on the club outdoor at tour events? That picture of Rahm doesn't have any which means he is only getting ball data if the quad is even turned on. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Foresight is paying the guys just to set a quad out there next to them hitting balls.

Most likely an ease of use and efficiency thing. GCQuad closed the gap in accuracy to a Trackman/Flightscope and doesn't require nearly the setup and target calibration to get up and going. Also smaller and more portable.

Yes, they are paying players, so some guys on golfwrx and pretty much no one else can talk about launch monitors.

If you are going to pay the best players in the world, you should get way more than a picture on Instagram...

At Harbour Town, I saw a boatload of players, caddies and instructors carrying a Trackman around. I didn't see a single GC Quad. YMMV.

This is actually totally false. Trackman can be aligned to the target through the Ipad app and does not need to be physically moved. Quad has to be picked up and rotated every time you want to change the target. It also has to be aligned manually which leaves quite a bit of room for error.

Both companies are killing it because of the pandemic. Think about how many well off guys want to golf but their course/club is closed..

Quad doesn’t have to be moved either. You just have to recalibrate with the alignment stick that comes with it.

"tOtAlLy FaLsE". You use an alignment rod to lock in to a target with a GCQuad which in my opinion is easier than turning on and booting up another piece of equipment, opening the Trackman app and your player profile, connecting to it via wifi, and aligning to a target. You literally throw the GCQuad down, align it, and are getting immediate ball/spin numbers and do not have to use a separate Ipad. So completely subjective and not "totally false". What's your hypothesis on why so many former trackman users are switching to these?

Excited to get mine. Ordered a Sim in a box from Costco while on sale. Everything shipped this week and am anxious to use the Quad while the sim room gets built later this summer.
