Hilton Sandestin

I will be vacationing at the Hilton Sandestin Resort in Florida. I would appreciate any input on (1) the relative difficulty of each course and (2) overall impressions on which courses are the most enjoyable.

I have played there for years. there are 4 courses there. Three public and one private. Burnt Pine is the private club, then there is Raven, Baytowne, and The Links. Raven is my personal favorite. Good mix of holes blending to make a good course. It does have water that comes into play on 9 holes and has some tight driving holes. Baytowne is my next favorite. It is a little easier layout, a little more open and not as much water, but still has a couple really good holes. The Links has the best views as most of the course played along Choctaw Bay. A little shorter and tighter, but good fun. Burnt Pine is a little overated in my opinion. Really nothing special and very similar to Raven. Its a great place to relax and play some fun golf. Enjoy!

I agree with the above comment that the Raven & Burnt Pine are very similar. Burnt Pine will have better conditions simply because it gets less play. Baytowne is the easiest & least memorable. The Links was always my favorite. It’s easily on the best piece of land and has the most fun/unique layout of the 4 courses.

My family sold our place in Sandestin shortly after Katrina but I don’t remember Burnt Pine ever being private. Either homeowners got access or times have changed but I use to play it all the time with my pops, I vividly remember him throwing his wedge into the water on 17 when I would eventually beat him for the first time. On Sandestin’s website you can book a package that includes a round at Burnt Pine so it’s definitely accessible.

If anyone is looking for a good course in the bham area, I can’t say enough good thing about Ross bridge. Played ridge, valley and bridge. Hands down bridge wins IMO
