Not a bad substitute for British Open week.

As always the Memorial chooses an honoree to recognize the contributors to the game of golf.

This year's honoree is Nick Price winner of the 1992 and 1994 PGA Championship and the 1994 British Open.

He won 18 times on the PGA Tour including the TPC, four additional tournaments on the European Tour and 14 wins on other major pro tours.

He spent 44 weeks as #1 in the world

Nick was the 1993 and 1994 PGA Tour Player of the Year

And he is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

As a Memorial hound I should have known about Price especially as he's one of my all time faves. Congrats to him...sad about the circumstances.

I wonder whether the winning score will be lower than usual because pros have played the course.

So, do you put your money on someone who was in the field this past week or no?

I am really excited to see this and see what all they do to make things different and to see just how much the scores differ (if any) barring any odd weather issues.

I really hope this highlights the work that superintendents can do with a course when they are asked.

I like DJ now. Brooks makes the cut but doesn't contend. Gary Woodland could make a good showing.

I think this will be a very compelling tournament. Faster greens, taller rough.

When I think of Nick Price, I think great ball-striker, but also really, really fast swing tempo. Who would be comparable in tempo among today's players? Tony Finau perhaps?

Excited for this tournament for so many reasons. Almost major excited.

Always like this tournament. Great field, great course.

I should have been there this week. I look forward to it every year. No matter how shitty my year is, I still have the Memorial to look forward to. Not this year. Still have a ticket that is of no use now. I'm not happy.

Put a dime on Tiger.. and a nickle on Reed and Ancer.

The last Masters to post at least a SoF of 810 was in 2011.

This is the strongest field in non major/ TPC history.

That's been the best thing about the restart by far. The lower notoriety tournaments which otherwise would be fairly weak have been stuffed with the top guns on Tour. Not to say that the Memorial isn't usually one of the premium ones, but more about RBC Heritage, Travelers, and Rocket Mortgage.

hes +260 to finish in the top 10 which could be a good bet given how he played in the match with phil,

hes +320 to have the lowest 2 round score between him, brooks and rory - id say stay away from this one but given how crappy brooks has looked and rory has been somewhat off
