Left hip slide? Two vids, what reckon..

Several people here have helped me already this year thanks again all

quick recap, worked on the 9-3 drill and feel I’ve improved the backswing significantly. My issue now is I feel my hips slide rather than turn on the downswing, can anyone confirm and perhaps suggest some drills? Or indeed mention other stuff that needs working on? Open to all suggestions, I like to take them at face value and work it through on video..

Some pelvic sway in backswing and you start shifting left way too late.

Hand and wrist action brings center of mass out early.

Those two things force a slide.

What kind of scores you shooting with that move?

I definitely never think of my hands doing anything when swinging, I’d say the ball is ‘below’ me? Distance is the main issue

Thanks for confirming. Think I should stop that bump to the right on the backswing (don’t know where it came from). If I focus on pushing the left hip back (from the top) will it look better? I don’t think about my hands at all in the swing

average 10 greens, rarely over 80 or under 70. Using top tracer to practise, can barely break 150 ball speed which isn’t getting it done..

Any advices chaps? I can see/agree the faults but need something to work on?

Alignment rod just off the front hip and hit balls in slow motion without pushing the rod over. Also focus on keeping hands high as you start your transition into the downswing. Basically keep hands at the top of the backswing as you begin to turn. They will naturally come down and shallow.

You have always had a wonderful action; this video just confirms it.This movement of the tailbone at the end of the backswing is present among all great ball strikers .

Two questions

In the slow motion version it appears as if there is very little lateral motion in transition toward the target after your tailbone has moved laterally. Do you think of any lateral movement after the tailbone has moved as being automatic?

How do you teach this move , especially to those golfers who have the incorrect hip move ingrained into their swing?

^^thankyou had a fiddle with this on the range this morning. Tried to feel I was turning more into my left side, then pushing my left hip back from the top. Will film tomorrow. It felt more powerful but won’t know til I’m on trackman next week sometime.. will update

For me feeling like the left shoulder works more down on the takeaway / backswing forces my right hip up and back; I had an online lesson with Monte a couple weeks ago where he linked me to this same video and I've been working on this recently. YMMV of course

Worked on this all week, just pushing the right hip back more and left hip back on the downswing. Was up a little on speed on Trackman, hit 12 greens yesterday, so overall quite pleased thanks all will get a new video just to inspire the hip slide strugglers!

Couldn’t get this move to work for me, although I’m sure there’s a lot to it, I just don’t like the feeling of steepness probably because I’m already a little steep from the top..

I don't know your swing as well as you but.....................................I would look at some Tube videos about PRO vs. Amateur hips from Athletic Motion Golf and setup/posture from Allison Thietje.
