Driver woes.

So..... 

I have always suffered with early extension and an open club face. Try as hard as I can, I can't eradicate it. I can't "shallow the shaft" the right way, and I can't turn into my left side properly either. It's getting to the point now that I'm so lost in my swing that I actually stand on the tee with driver and have no idea where it's going to go.  

My miss has always been a high right block, and occasionally I'd over compensate and the snap hook would show up, but the block has been the mainstay in my game.  

Last season I basically left driver in the bag and hit 3 wood off every tee. That was fine unless the course was long, or, the wind got up. This year I felt if I was going to get better I needed to be able to let the big dog eat.  

I've been sticking to it and trying to hit Driver on holes which really need it, but so far my golf has been awful, and the right shot is getting worse and worse, to the point that I actually dread tee shots.  

I know it's just a game, and I shouldn't let it bother me and I should just "enjoy being on the course" blah blah blah... But I can't. Tonight I hit one which flew 3 fairways right and I lost it. You can't play golf like that. :(

Not being able to get off the tee makes it so unenjoyable for me, to the point that I don't want to play anymore.  

I've taken long breaks from golf before, and come back to it feeling enthusiastic, only to end up in the same spot I'm in now.  

I need to find a way to stop the big miss, and just get something in play when I'm hitting it crap. 

I don't have any video to post at the minute, but will hopefully get to the range tomorrow to hit some shots. I'll post it if I do. I obviously don't expect any pearls of wisdom until then, but I had to write this now, as I'm in a serious golf funk.  

I’m assuming your face is open at impact and you’re swinging way left to compensate. I’d try swinging through more on the line you’d like the ball to fly and maybe experiment with closing your club face at address? You also could have alignment issues, so when you think you’re standing square to the line you’re trying to take, you could actually be standing open. I don’t know. I’ve struggled with something similar, though not as severe.

You need a lesson with a pro to identify and diagnose your issues. You won’t be able to do it on your own. Just like going to the dentist.

Lots of range balls trying to hit 150yd drivers. Experiment with feet together, closed stances, open stances, wide stances, narrow stances but with all of them pick a target and only try to hit it 150 yds over and over. It will train your body to keep the path and face more neutral and avoid the big miss as you add speed.

Once you can hit 10 very straight drives 150 yds gradually start adding speed as long as you stay consistent. Don't jump up to full speed unless you are hitting your smooth swings straight almost every single time.
