Best blade like players CB?

Been playing mp-18s for a while now with super peening blues. Looking to either get a players cavity 4-P or combo set. Thinking i210, maybe mp-20s, srixon z785, or something else, lol. What’s your favorite blade like players CB?

omgosh... tell me you play mizuno but arent aware that the mmc both 18 or 20 are the smallest most and i mean most forgiving cbs there are in the world... i have the 20 mmc. Wow is all i have to say.

Titleist CB’s always have a great look at address, this year the t100 also looks like a blade at address.

Worthy mention goes to the Wilson Staff V6 which looks and feels great

Not sure if you would consider them or not, but the Maltby TS1 at www.golfworks.com are as good as anything I have played in my 38 years. Profile is just slightly larger than my 12 year old Snake Eyes 675B blades, but longer and way more forgiving. I have let numerous people playing Mizuno and Srixon CB's and MB's hit them who have walked away impressed. You can buy just one club to try and see for yourself.

if you are thinking i210s, then you wont see much loss in forgiveness by going to the iblades. maybe i210s help more with launch in the long-irons and spin a touch less, thats maybe all. while they aren't actually blades but rather a cb, the iblades are much more blade-like than the i210. and far far more forgiving than they look.

I play a combo set of 919T and 919F and there is enough forgiveness in the progression to help when I'm not at my best. They also happen to look really nice in the bag too.

Can’t go wrong with the 785’s. Bought a set at the beginning of the year after having my first real iron fitting. All I can say is wow, great feel and look. Equaling forgiving as the 210’s which I played last year. Lots of info on this site about them too. Plus they offer any almost any shaft (except graphite I believe) as a ni charge upgrade.

I know it’s dated, but the Nike vr forged pro combo, the top lines are thin, square, and compact. They have an almost blade appearance at address.

Wilson Staff v4s or v6s. Small compact head, fantastic feel, surprisingly forgiving.

In terms of pure feel, the Miura CB 1008 is the closest one can play a CB but still feel like you are playing a blade. Just pure. I have put them down side by side to my Blueprints, and they are almost the same from topline thickness to length of blade, to offset.

Mp20’s would be my vote. I like my cobra cb/mb set quite a bit. They’re the smallest cavity back head I’ve ever seen.

Everyone has their favorites but i think its important to separate a couple of key characteristics in what you are looking for? To ME, a blade like cb means smaller blade length, minimal offset and thinner topline. A couple mentioned in this thread dont meet those requirements in my opinion, particularly the i210, and maybe the srixons. The mp20 mmc is REALLY good and performs amazingly but it does have slightly more offset and topline than what i was looking for. Im currently in the Titleist 620 cb and very happy with them, looks wise it hits the nail on the head. But compared to the rest of these irons, its also probably the least forgiving.

Those cb-1008 are SWEEEEET! I’m not sure if I want to drop that cash though lol. It’s looking like I’ll probably do the mp-20 mmc in 4-6 and mp-20 7-p unless I stumbled across some of those Miura heads. How much are those anyways?

Has anyone hit the z785/ zforged combo?

For what you are describing I think the 620 cb and cobra cb are the closest looking cavity that resemble a blade. Both small footprint heel to toe with thin top lines and minimal offset. I have not hit the 620 cb yet, but they look incredible! Also, I think the 620 cb sole design is just about perfect.

I had the j40s and they were amazing....

I went from mp18sc to a combo of z585 (4 and 5) and z785 (6 - pw). The 585 were a little chunky to look at when i first put them in play but i got used to it quickly. Love this set up

What about Callaway 2018 x forged / MB’s?

if you are thinking of a change I would highly recommend the MP-20 HMB, I currently play the MP-18's and when I was on vacation had a chance to pay the MP-20 HMBS. Just have to say if I had the cash I would buy a set right now, they were amazing.

I’m leaning toward either mmc/mb combo or straight mmc. Probably with dg tour x100 or possibly the dg 120 tour x100.....does anyone know the shipping times?

Just cut to the chase and pick one of these two: Titleist CB (any year) or Mizuno MMC (esp MP-20). I prefer the looks of the CB but the MP-20 MMC is a serious winner.

Someone also mentioned the Mizuno MP-20 HMB, but that only looks like a blade in the bag. It's a hollow body with lots of offset and a thick sole. It's a great club but not a players club. I love HMB as a driving iron/long iron though.

CB1008 is sweet. Very thin top line and short blade length. A little offset but not offensive. Feel is unlike anything else you'll ever hit. The CB57 is also very nice.

The Titleist T100S def needs to be included in this mix.

Very blade like setup, especially if you go a bit weaker in the lofts.

It's a sliding scale. The more forgiveness you want, the more you're going to have to get away from the straight-ahead muscle design in favor of heel/toe weighting and more dramatic perimeter weighting as well. You can generally tell just by looking at a CB exactly how forgiving it's intended to be.

If you want something that's uber-simplistic on the backside then you're limited to blade-style clubs with a little bit of perimeter weighting. At that level of "CB" there really isn't any forgiveness--only some level of vibration dampening. Thus the feel might be a little less variable between shots but that's it, there won't be much change in performance versus a stock muscle-back blade. If you want practical / noticeable forgiveness you probably need a club where the muscle has been chopped up a little bit and weight more aggressively re-distributed.

My Titleist 716 CB is a good example of a "CB" with enhanced forgiveness. I've played many sets of MBs and these particular CBs are noticeably more stable and even a little more forgiving on toe-strikes, too. The Titleist CB looks pretty much like a blade but as you progress through the set you get a fairly dramatic degree of perimeter weighting, an increasingly-carved-out muscle and finally some tungsten toe weights in the mid- and long-irons.

Completely agree. I hit most of the usual contenders in this category recently, coming from mp-37's. The MP20 MMC and the 620CB we're clear standouts to me.
