Do OEM’s tip fairways?

I recently ordered the Cleveland driver and 3 wood with the Tensei CK Pro Blue shafts. Mitsubishi advise tipping the 3wood shaft 1/2” before installing. Do OEM’s such as Cleveland/Srixon follow this guide or do they generally install untipped?

You can see on mine, when you put them side by side, the shaft markings are in the same place! Boron tip etc.

I assumed they would follow the shaft company’s advice. Will it play much different being untipped?

First of all, OEMS is free to use their own standards, so no matter what the shaft manufacturer suggest, thats not always how OEMs treat them.

Next...Hosel specs matters, if you look at your clubs again, you will notice that HOSEL is longer total on your driver, while insert is most likely the same, and a LOWER BBGM (on the wood), gives "longer butt section" in play = stronger, so depending on how that shaft models EI profile looks like, they both can and should alter tip trim for both hosel specs and head weight, so the shaft PROFILE plays like its meant to.

So, what you see does not have to be a error at all, but the OEM that has altered tip trim for actual head specs so the shaft plays as its intended to do, so just try it off before you complain, if it feel strange compared to the driver, then contact customer service and ask for their practice and why.

Might just be the pictures, but if you line up where the tip ends in each head, it looks like the shaft band would be lower in the 3 wood. Which would mean it was tipped.

Maybe it’s the angle if that’s not the case...

It's the angle mate. When the ferrules are lined up the shaft bands are in an identical position. Thanks

Off topic- Do the ferrule's that the Cleveland factory turned down really look that bad. Might just be the picture but it looks like one of my kids did them.

Not the worst I've seen!...but probably not the best either. Doesn't bother me though.

Those don't look to bad, It was definitely the lighting in the first pictures making them look worse.
