Update 8/14 - ***Migration work continues. Estimate Go Live to new board 8/17***

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

I was ebaying while under the influence when I bought this 2016? Newport 2.5 Select

The magnet sticks lightly to the bottom, but not at all in the insert.

I would say fake. Lettering on the sole looks off and no mill mark on the back.

What about the lettering on the bottom is suspect?

I am not an expert but it looks like the font is a little bit smaller than on the originals. I don't see the milling mark on the back of the putter that I was told was usually a tell tale sign. Again, I am only giving my opinion on what I see in the photos. I could be wrong though.

I'm absolutely not an expert but I don't see the mill mark either. The lettering on the bottom looks a little further from the weight as well compared to the picture on the gallery but that could be the angle. The mill mark on the cavity would have me concerned, but I'd wait until some of the experts here chime in.

Yes, in the cavity, it looks like a casting and not flat smooth milling. But the flange does look milled. Maybe someone had it bead blasted. I dont know, hard to see.

I took a better picture of the cavity. I also took out one of the Allen screws to make sure it wasn't glued in.

I’m not one to jump on the “its fake” bandwagon. But that one looks like a cast fake to me. The pic of the sole especially looks cast due to the wear pattern. Can you take a weight out and show a picture of that? Usually a dead giveaway.

No mill marks and the sight line doesn’t go all the way to the cavity. It stops short.

Anyone know how to remove a weight without a "Scotty" tool?

    Needle nose pliers can work.

It is odd not to have mill marks and the sight line is strange also. Be careful. Taking the weight out and showing a pic would help.

I had a heart attack on Monday, so I haven't responded, but I'm back on the case.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for because I don't have another one to compare.

I can't find any picture of a similar real putter's weight cavities. Anyone got one?

Did the weight just pop out like it was glued in or did it unscrew like it's threaded?

I'm not certain on yours but I've read about fakes having weights that were just glued in.

Hate to tell you, based on those recent pics it is almost certainly a fake. The sole looks cast not milled. No mill marks in the weight cavity and very rounded finishes. I’m Almost certain it’s fake.

Weigh the weights. Are they the correct weight?

I took another picture of the cavities showing the circles that are what I think are mill marks? Also I weighed the weights and they are both 10 grams each. The weights screw in and the Allen screws are also functional. Of course I want it to be real, but I must say the putter is well made as is the head cover. The head cover could be real and the putter fake but... BTW, the weight tool on the counter... yeah that’s a Chinese fake.

Those pics make me feel better about it. The mill marks in the weight cavity show up and the tag in the cover are good.

The sole continues to look cast though. Could just be the pics.

I used a mill for about ten minutes before my metal shop teacher banned me from using it again. That’s my knowledge level. Is the hairline just below the neck a sign of milling, casting or neither?
