ProV1X.....in love again

NB, i agree, but I feel a little dopey for having tried about everything else for the last couple of years. I used the X exclusively for more than a decade and then wandered around using others until "trying" it again a couple of weeks ago. Always searching for the grail, I  guess, or why would we be here, posting

Oh yeah, I do it too. Spent a year and a half with the AVX. Spent a year at one point with B330. Even did the Chrome Soft thing for several months. I could play just fine with all of them (less so the Chrome Soft which always seemed a little disappointing trajectory-wise) but every time when I get back to Pro V1x I'm happier. Just seems to go the distance I expect and react like I expect when it hits the green a little more often than other balls.

Same here. I have tried every ball imaginable and while they are all good balls for whatever reason the V1X just has that formula, for me, that just works. People say how the BStone or XV are longer but I can say without a doubt I have hit my longest drives ever with a V1X. I also never question the ball when I hit a bad shot or something goes amiss with the ProV1X. With other balls there's always a question in the back of my mind when it falls short or doesn't spin like i think it should, was it the ball?

I played the ProV1x from the day it was sold in shops. I've played every generation of the ball. I've experimented with the B330x and TP5x balls, and those are fine balls too, but there is no ball manufacturer in golf that is more consistent from ball to ball than Titleist. Period. Every ball performs exactly the same and as you would expect, and testing has proven that over and over.

The big surprise for me this year is the new 2019 ProV1, which is a ball I never tried because it was, to be frank, the shorter ball. Not this year. The ProV1 is lock step with the ProV1x but in a slightly softer feel. Basically, you can't go wrong with either one now. And if you want to go into monster mode, check out the Left Dash. Holy smokes this ball is long. It's a high flying, lower spinning, tour ball that catches your attention quick. A little firmer, but feel is in the eye of the beholder.

That's basically the same progression I took. For almost 20 years I played the ProV1 and then switched to the TP5-X ball a couple years ago. When the current TP5-X came out it seemed much firmer and had less spin so I went back to the ProV1. However Titleist in their strange wisdom flipped the characteristics of the ProV1 and ProV1X balls. Now I play the ProV1X and its great. Feel, spin, durability, trajectory, distance - all as good as anything out there.

I'm starting to toy around with Bridgestone to see if they perform as well, but somehow I think I'll be back...

V1x is my gamer ball but I bought a dozen of the 2020 Tour B XS balls and they are definitely giving the V1x a good run. I think there's slightly less iron spin with the XS than the V1x but slightly more wedge spin with the XS which works perfectly for my game currently.

Well, I may have to settle on one brand, and the newest V1x may be it.

I just hate paying that much for balls.... Robbery!

Long time V1x user. Tried out sleeve of new Bridgestone x and TM Tp5x. Did not like B'stone. Felt and sounded weird off driver. TM ball was nice. Real nice. Love it off the putter, not sure why. Driver, its longer than V1x. Irons too. Doesnt spin as much as V1x off wedges, but I control my shot with trajectory these days. Its only $5 cheaper per box so meh, who knows what I will play next.....

I've found lots of balls that seem to perform better than the ProV1x when I do my initial testing. However, I keep coming back because for whatever reason, I just score better when I play the ProV1x.

I'm sure it's mental, but the ball just seems to behave more consistently for me than anything else.

It's odd because it's been more than a couple of years since I used the X full time. Now, I'm hitting it so well that I'm kicking myself for switching. I love them in yellow(as I  did the ProVs ) but I have been wondering if I'd been playing as well with TM X now? I have plenty of both so I bet I'll find out !

There is no relation between clubhead speed and what ball you use. No physical reason anyway, it's just something people choose to believe because a bunch of Bridgestone and Srixon ads told them so.

Pro V1x will be about as long as Pro V1, fly higher, maybe spin a tiny bit more and is supposed to feel a fraction softer. For any clubhead speed, although I suppose if you swing your driver at 60mph and just roll the ball along the ground it's impossible to see differences between balls.

Well I played through a batch of the 2012 version of B330 during (if I recall correctly) late-2014 through mid-2015. Bought them New Old Stock really cheap.

When it would have been time to start paying retail for newer versions, I just reverted back to Pro V1x. I liked the B330 fine but (maybe it was my imagination) once in a while I'd get one of those suck-back wedge shots that backs away from the hole. I know that can happen with any ball and honestly, the Pro V1x probably spins as much as anything out there off a wedge. But I came away with the idea that B330 might do that to me. Mostly I'd just liked the ProV1x better, no real complaint with B330.

No idea, really, whether I'd have liked the 2016, 2018 or 2020 follow-on versions of B330 or not.
