Does Matthew Wolff Ever Shut Up?

I enjoyed watching the charity match yesterday at the 3M Open site. Wolff however nattered like a 10th Grader out in the hall. He seems like a good guy who is trying too hard to "fit in" and attempting to make every one like him by dominating the dialogue and giggling almost non-stop. Tommy Fleetwood looked visibly annoyed a couple of times but being the even keeled guy that he is, played along with Wolff's performance. Matt's skill set is admirable and I hope his social graces will be better honed in the future.

Could it be possible he is in fact a young player still learning how to be mic'd up for a round of golf that is supposed to be entertainment? I imagine there's a lot of external pressure to define himself while playing the best golf he can. It will take a few years for him to settle down and figure it out.

Yes, I noticed he talked a lot. It was entertaining. Lee Trevino used to talk all the time too, lol. Maybe it's just his personality?

Showing him on Golf Channel. GG is on the range with him. So funny how Matthew does his little trigger even on the range before every swing.

TBH, that whole mic'd up thing is hard to watch with anyone. Since it's just freeform and you have so many people, it's just like constant chatter most of the time.

You could tell he was annoying Rory and probably some of the other guys, he actually busted on Rory a little bit and then Rory shut him up by telling him he won 2 FedEx cups and like $30 million

As I said, he seems likeable. With more comfort and maturity I'm sure the "Chatty Cathy" persona will tone down and he certainly has the skill to let his clubs do the talking.

Yeah it was kinda annoying hearing him literally talking the whole time. Can't knock the kid... young and he has that type of personality. Maybe someone on the production team can have a kill switch for his mic next time.

It was an exhibition 9 hole scramble, with no fans. If he wasn't yapping it would have been the most boring thing in the world given one guy was shell shocked to even be there (Gordon) and the other two are pretty low key guys. The thing was honestly a bit a joke given there was zero competition and only two PGA tour winners (Wolff being one of them) in the group. It was basically shooting fish in a barrel for zero reason other than answering the "What would a 4 some of tour players shoot in a scramble" question. 3 or 4 3-man teams would have been far more entertaining. Didn't quite get why they needed two "brand ambassadors" to walk the course like tweedle dee and tweedle dum either

Super talent and super nice kid! (needs work on short game as we saw here in Det.) Laughs way to much at everything. Probably learning how to fit in with the vets. ( I muted the TV). Saw Tommy give him a few shut up looks out there.

What I found disturbing was the stupid skin tight pants on Duhamel. WTF is a 47/48 yr old walking around a golf course like that! "I know I'm an old guy now". Looked like a stooge walking with his hand in his pocket try to hold his pants up.

Some on this board forget that TV golf is all about entertainment and making coin. Mathew Wolfe is chatty which is exactly what the producers want. Wolfe also bombs it a long way which also helps.....a lot!

I think players should be wired with electrodes on a particularly sensitive area and viewers should have a button on their TV remote that zaps them with 120 volts when they become obnoxious.

I think the same about posters on WRX, especially the ones who constantly cry about everything, but mostly about distance killing the game and about how much better the old days were.

Turned 51 this year, its happening, it creeps right into your life no matter how hard you try not to be your parents. I resist with all might! Plus I'm on WRX I can still send it 325+ but now that I'm 51 I have a hard time keeping up with most WRX'ers bombing it 345+

This might be a bad take, full of stereotypes, but here it goes. Pro Golfers are usually introverts who spent 6-8 hours a day banging golf balls everyday from age 13-21, by themselves usually or the same 2-3 other guys. Unlike other team sports where players have off seasons and usually practice with a team full a guys. These team players have camaraderie and bantar on a daily basis.

What im getting at its rare to see PGA golfers who have swag or the "it" factor. These guys aren usually boring and ackward. Compare a young PGA pro to a young NBA,NHL or NFL players have swag and an aura to them. Golfers are squares for the most part. Now over time they learn to be cool and get their "barbie" etc... But what im saying Matt Wolfe is a breath of fresh air ?

This forum has hated Rahm, Bryson, and now Wolff because they had the audacity to be loud or different or chatty. Accordingly Wolff should become the next big superstar on tour.
