Marking Golf balls

Curious to know what everyone uses to add their personal touch/alignment to their ball? I've always used sharpies but I find they fade/wear pretty quickly. I've seen the Marki pens but have never used them. What are others using?

Sharpie, re-applied if I keep a ball long enough to have the marking fade. I do find that marking the balls in advance helps the marks to last, as compared to marking them as I step onto the first tee.

I also use a Sharpie and mark in advance. It could be my imagination but I "feel" that using a fine point Sharpie gives more lasting results.

I use a blue fine point sharpie, but I do fill in a dimple on each side so that might do it since its in the dimple vs on the surface? If I don't lose a ball all 18, and I'm actually cleaning the ball after each hole, it will be a faded blue but still visible.

I use a red sharpie. If its a Titleist then I dot the second "i", for Srixon and Taylormade I color in the "O". For the big "B" of Bridgestone, I'll sometimes color in the white area within the "B" and sometimes a dot up and to the right of the number.

Don't most recently manufactured balls have a 'line' already built-in? I don't use the lines, but if I did, I'd just use what's on the ball.

I put a 'D' next to each number with a sharpie.

I use the terrific Marki pens https://www.marki.com.au/ and they don't fade off like Sharpies and have been for years, Other than using the marki pens, l I use the different Golfdotz for ID which are legal since they don't interfere with the balls performance https://golfdotz.com/

I pre-mark with a sharpie, I definitely think pre-marking helps longevity as well, though my current gamers don't have a durable enough cover to keep long enough to see if the sharpie wears out.. I mark three slashes through the name/number

I also pre-mark with the sharpie, and re-apply when needed, but I find it still wears off more quickly than I'd like. I might pick up one of this marki pens and see if I notice a differents.

In my group, I don’t ever have to mark my ball as my playing partners all use PV1’s and i do not. In tournaments I put a hot pink or a neon green dot next to the #

Pre mark all my CSX by coloring in the chevron to make a blue triangle. Its a ritual, basically.

Tin Cup stencil, Incognito. I pre-mark, seems that if I let the ball sit overnight, the mark lasts longer.

Or, if I play a Truvis ball, I use sharpie to mark around the chevron or number, usually a line, sometimes a dot or a circle around the number

For myself it's just a colourful alignment line (Orage, purple or pink) along the pre existing alignment text with a Sharpie. I always pre-mark them, but I still find they wear sooner than I'd like.

Sharpie, and I draw complete gibberish swirls all over the ball so it can be identified from any lie.

My partners have called it "crazy ball," and that has stuck.

Those who pre-mark: Do you mark balls with slight differences so you can distinguish a provisional from your first ball? There have been many times where both of my shots have landed in the same general area. Give me your ideas!

I use a medium point Sharpie to make a Pi symbol just above the number on the ball.

I generally have balls with two different numbers. If I only have the same number, I usually add one more dot somewhere to be sure I know which is which.

Pre Mark with a Sharpie Neon (currently blue), Alignment line and two dots (one blue, one neon green). Marking will fade over a round, but I generally retire the ball after a full round.

The ball in my back pocket is always a higher number than the one on the tee. (Sometimes those 4's are converted ahead of time into 14's or even 24's.)

I do dots with Sharpies. Mostly just a single color dot above the brand on each side is sufficient. Sometimes I'll do 1 blue, 1 red dot if I'm feeling extra patriotic that day. I play custom number balls so there's never another player with my number, but the marks just add a bit more visualization.

I pre-mark an alignment line all the way around with a hot pink Sharpie on a yellow ball. If I were to encounter someone else with similar markings, I would add my initials on each hemisphere of the ball defined by the line for unique ID. I also re-order sleeves for what I like to think of as "tournament mode" with each sleeve containing 3 different numbered balls. I reapply as needed although I might check out the Marki brand recommended above to see if it's better for longevity.
