***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

Everyone would play better if they only brought clubs they can actually hit.

"Soft spikes" is just another way of saying street shoes.

A round filled with hero shots is waaay more fun than grinding out a low score.

    Flexibility trumps strength.

Ping hasn’t made a good putter in years. Most of their recent putters are ugly or feel awful and it’s ruining their legacy as a legendary putter company. They need to sell their PLD putters at retail. It’s telling that almost no Ping staffer plays a retail Ping.

Not sure the PLD range does a lot for me but yeah they are o-for-a-hundred or so in recent years, coming up with new putters I'd have any interest in trying.

For a company that revolutionized putters by making a simple, clean, effective putter, they’ve completely abandoned that ethos. I just want them to make something clean and simple. I don’t need the two tone colour of the Heppler with the flimsy adjustable shaft.

I picked up golf around 2002. If you asked me to describe Ping putters in one word since I started playing that word would be "cheap".

If when describing your golf clubs, you have to use the terms "hard stepped," "soft stepped," "PUREd/PUREing", "bent flat/strong" or "up 1 f*#%ing degree," then they should be taken away from you.

The PXG logo and Air Jordan golf shoes are incredibly ugly

If you are not scratch or better you should not have a staff bag with your name on it

The ball you play isn't going to make a big difference.

It's a shame on the Jordans because they have so many great shoes they could make golf shoes out of.

As far as the name on a staff bag I will give you an exception. I agreed with you until I started running my own business. I didn't get a staff bag but I had my logo put on my Vessel Stand Bag and I get logos put on my golf balls because I can then write them off as a business expense. Now every round of golf I play is also a write off too because I'm advertising. While I did it originally because I needed a new bag and thought I may as well do something where I can get a write off I do get asked all the time about my logo on the bag so it has started quite a few business conversations. So it's paid for itself and then some. The only downside is when you slice a drive into someone's backyard and your logo is stamped on the side of the ball lol.

If your putting goes south, it’s not the putters fault.

On that same theme, fixing your swing will knock off more shots that buying new clubs that fit your flawed swing.

    No golf clubs look “****”

Most of the “technological improvements” to golf clubs are just marketing hype.

This times 100. The groove face putters have zero of the feel Pings used to have. Not to mention the sinking feeling of hitting them in the center of the face and seeing them constantly dry up short. Then catching a putt toe or heel side that powers through the break.

    Unpopular Opinions:

    1. Spikes should be allowed to be used again at least on private / club courses. Using these compared to some of the stock cleats offered is a totally different game.
    2. Most of us should play from the Whites. Time and time again, I see necky drives, duck hooks, or slices into the houses on the first tee and know I'm in for a 5 hour + round. Marshals should be able to enforce this but, this can deter people from coming back and $$$ out the door.
    3. There should be a cop or officer stationed in parking lots. Being on a course for 4 - 5 hours and slugging crispy suds while getting dehydrated = drunk driving. We all see a lot of toasted personalities getting in the car that shouldn't be.
    4. Courses should take care of their bunkers more than they do now. I know, COVID is in effect but, most courses I've played lately have insanely shotty bunkers yet, I'm paying full price, actually maybe even more now than prior to COVID, and it's harder to find a tee time, for worse conditions. More money for crappier conditions and more competitiveness to get on the track. Makes you wonder.
    5. People observed not fixing pitch marks should be banned for a year.
    6. If your shirt and shorts / pants are neon colors and are matching, you should be banned.
    7. Five-somes should be banned. No more of this. This is the downfall of golf, the downfall of pace, the downfall of patience.

There ya go. Some funny. Some serious.

if you need music or a football game-wear earbuds

    I miss metal spikes

If you come to a busy course in a hurry to get done- stay home

    Oncoming fairways should be OB

Once you are at quadruple bogey-pick up

Jf you wanna smoke I dont care but dont blow clouds of that sweet vapey stuff all over

actually watch the other guy putt-you might learn something

PGA tour better without gallery- I can actually appreciate the course

I have never cared what another man wears

I miss the Penfold balls that came wrapped like little chocolates

Jeans I agree and I can get behind not allowing the shirtless, flip flop wearing guy out there but I am totally over the "slacks, GOLF belt, polo and every accessory required or else you aren't dressing the part" - give me some comfortable shorts, I'll still wear golf shoes but they might look like sneakers, my golf shirt looks fine even if it doesn't have a collar. When I see the guy in full uniform attending a PGA even as a spectator it really baffles me.

Fivesomes and higher I may change my stance on the death penalty.

Riding is faster than walking all else being the same - there is no way every group with carts is playing faster than me and some friends walking. Sure they can zip up to their ball 200yds out before I can get there but that doesnt make up for the search party in the woods, breakfast balls and other things commonly seen on the course.

Music on the course can be tasteful and not bother anyone, earbuds are fine and a soft speaker or phone in your carry bag is relaxing while you walk and cant really be heard 10ft away. [The fivesome blaring Nickelback is ruining it for people like me]

America would do a lot better if they stopped playing stroke and started normalising Stableford. Nothing worse than watching some plonk score a 9, and follow it up with a 12, a rant, and a tyre skid mark.

    1. Taylormade has to stop making those cringeworthy adds on Youtube, where pros somehow ‘naturally’ say how great this new SIM hybrid is (I’m looking at you Rory).
    2. If your teaching pro is giving you chipping and putting lessons with range balls, please run.
    3. Taylormade Project (a) is an underrated ball.
    4. Most golfers are better of with wedges that match their iron set instead of specialist wedges. If you’re mostly hitting full shots with your gap wedge, the consistency of a set wedge is more beneficial than the option of opening up your wedge for 1 shot a round.
    5. Erik Anders Lang is just a sell out.
    6. Golfcourses should allow preferred lies on dry and bare fairways as well.
    7. Not repairing a pitch mark should result in immediate ending of the round without refund.

I understand he needs to make a living, but partnering with too many brands, as an influencer, makes you lose your credibility. The guy is endorsing almost every brand in golf. Taylormade, Precision Pro, Adidas, Vice Balls, Jones Bags, J. Lindeberg, Whoop Straps, even Keeps Hair Loss Treatment. I mean, come on...the guy has best hair in the business. You can’t tell me he is endorsing all of these brands because he really loves their products. And that’s okay, but don’t pretend all of these brands are close to your heart and we need to buy them because it makes you part of the community, because they are just there to pay the bills.

    Lots of opinions! Love it.

    mine?

1-stop saying “mY GaMEr” as in what you use to play. Yuck

2-best piece of advice for anyone? Keep the hole in front of you. If you can’t carry that trap to a back pin consistently then find the mouth of the green where you can run up 80% of all greens. Scores will drop like a stone in a lake

3-you don’t hit the ball as far as you think you do off the tee. Catching one longer than usual is the result of the landing not your ability

4-if you are not hitting 50% of your greens, and never close to hitting a 5 in 2, you’re playing too far back. Period

5-graphite is plain better in irons

6-there is not a measurable difference in any driver over the last 8 years

Saying Dechambeau added 30 pounds of " muscle" is wrong

As a former gym owner, nobody gains that much muscle in that short of time

    Not even with PEDs

More like he added some muscle and a lot of fat-

Changes in his application of that weight is what is getting him distance

If you consistently find the center of the club face and have been properly fit, the only way you should look for more distance is by improving your physical fitness. Constantly changing out driver, shaft, and/or balls looking for a few extra yards will keep you from gaining the long-term confidence you need to perform off the tee and making swing changes when you are striking the ball well is foolhardy.

Vegas. August. Golf. It's a tough tough time. But the endless beers and drinks at the black jack tables make up for it.
