Wow, it sounds like that issue Thomas' caddie had the other week was a bit more serious than they let on. I wonder if he had a heat stroke or severe heat exhaustion? The article says he's going to undergo some testing. All the best.

Dam! I guess I'm dropping some change on JT!

Heat stroke is no joke. Had it happen to a buddy in his late forties two years ago and he cannot be outside in 90 degree + heat for more than about 1/2 an hour. And forget about physical exertion outside. Completely changed his life.

Wonder if these guys are paying Bones the normal rate or shelling out a bunch extra to get him to commit?

My guess would be Bones must be itching to get back on the bag - he does a very good job on the mic too!

For sure. Oddly enough I have a similar story: my neighbor at my mom’s house when I was a kid was the 60 year old guy you’d always see with the tank top, crocodile Dundee hat, mowing his lawn and sipping a Coors Original after in his garage. We’re in Texas, for reference. He told us that he was planting new fence posts in late summer and went inside complaining about how he was just smoked, felt like he couldn’t catch his breath. He went to the ER thinking it was a heart attack, he had a mild heat stroke. He was very heat sensitive after that and had to have a lawn service take care of his gorgeous St. Augustine from then on.

First off, I hope Jimmy is ok, makes a full recovery, and can return to caddying.

However, will be really interesting to see how JT does with Bones on the bag.

And with Phil in the group on Sunday...it'd be very interesting to follow this pair a bit tomorrow.

Doubt if JT and Bones will have the same type on-camera banter that Phil and Bones did. That was legendary.

I wouldn't expect much, the comments surrounding the parting were very terse.

The PGA Championship will be the first time Bones McKay has caddied for a player ranked #1 in the world.

Phil and Bones both are gentlemen, and did not badmouth each other, but obviously there had to be a serious rift to dissolve a 25-year partnership.

I do remember being surprised when Bones was a commentator on a PGA broadcast several months ago (and he did an excellent job; I would love to see him do it full time), and some player made a great up and down, and Bones was asked which players he thought had the best short game ever. He named Tiger and another player or two whose names escape me, but he did not mention Phil. I think most people, including me, would put Phil in their top 3.

I think I saw on the broadcast that Todd was number one in scrambling so far up to this week.

I looked up the 'Scrambling' stats and Phil was T110.

Thomas looked very sharp today. When Spieth could putt it seemed like he could get up and down from anywhere.

I think people think of Phil as a short game wizard because he tends to have a flashier style than most.

This situation just got a whole lot more interesting. Can Justin request two caddies carry his bag at the same time?
