MMT UT REVIEW?

I wanted to see how the MMT Utility Iron shaft played and how it compares to other driving iron shafts.

I'm gonna bump this up to the top here.

TourShopFresno has the MMT UT on sale for $75 and I picked up up for my GAPR Lo.

Given all the hype and popularity of the MMT as a general iron shaft, I figured the UT model would be worth a try. Also a good deal and I can't resist those.

Any updates on reviews for the MMT UT?  Considering trying this in my Srixon ZX utility.  Currently have recoil 95s hard stepped.  Thinking these might be quite a bit stiffer but may help with dispersion.

I've had mine for a few weeks now from my post above.

It's a good shaft. Stable but loads well. I hated the MMT in woods but I like it in the UT. I dont use the club a whole lot so I dont really have a 'wow' moment with it, but I'm not itching to replace it either so thats saying something.

Thanks for the feedback.  What were you using prior in the UT?

I've used a bunch of stuff in UDIs previously...but in this specific head (GAPR Lo) I had the made-for Taylormade Diamana Thump as well as the ATMOS Black 90 HYB.

Those felt very much like graphite shafts. The MMT feels more like an iron shaft. I like that feel in a UDI more and the weight of the shaft really helps as well.

Just be careful though as the MMT shafts are VERY heavy spec-wise and when you build the club the SW will probably be higher than stock. Like D2 to D4 for instance. You'll need to shorten the club or add weight to the head, depending on the head.

thanks for the feedback.  Heard about that too.  I currently use modus 120x in my irons.  Sometimes I think the step into the 95 recoil is too drastic of a weight difference...Hoping this will be a little better transition and tighten dispersion.

What didn't you like about it in woods?  Asking because I have an MMT 60 in an Epic Speed and I sure don't like the combo.  Before I condemn the head as being not for me I'm considering putting something else in it but wanted to see your thoughts.  As for the UT shaft, I don't have that but have the MMT HY in my Apex Pro hybrids.  I like them in those - real stable but a little dead-ish feel wise compared to say Steelfiber hls780 for example.

Didnt provide feedback, was dead, didnt feel good for me personally. Numbers were ok but it didnt do anything for me and I dont see the 'MMT technology' doing anything or needing to do anything for me in woods.

Now for irons/UDi it makes sens, but woods, no.

I have the MMT in my irons and they check every box for me.  It was ok at best when I tested in a SIM UDI.  Feel was good but dispersion seemed to be a problem.  Ended up going with KBS Proto instead.  Better feel and dispersion is tight.  I'm not afraid of the left miss anymore with it unless I put a horrible swing on it.

Epic Speed is a fantastic head.  It just needs a shaft fitted for you to bring it to life.  What shaft profile are you looking for?  Low/low, mid/low?

At my driver swingspeed (102-105) I'm a solid mid-mid guy.  I've got a GD Y6 Nano Reloaded laying around I think I'll throw an OptiFit adapter on and give it a try.  I've used it in a different driver and liked it a lot.

I have the 105 TX softstepped once in my irons and I tried the 105 TX UT shaft in my ZX 4 utility.  I think it was a bit too stout for me as I could not elevate it and it ended up just being a redundant club as my 5 iron.  It had the same carry distance, but it just rolled out further.  i went back to my 4 hybrid.  

i play DG TI 120 X100's in my irons normally. I put a MMT 125TX UT in a PXG 0311 1 iron and I absolutely love this thing. low flight bullets that carry about 230 and run for days.

Picked up an i500 3 iron with the 125tx on the bst and it is a bomber. I play $taper 130 in my irons and this feels a bit more stout but still smooth. Hard for me to turn over which is exactly what I want at my home course. 

How would the utility MMT 105tx compare to a Tour AD DI 9x?  

Full disclosure, I've tested the MMT 105tx against my DG TI X100 in the same Apex Pro '21 head/specs and I'm diving into the MMT full-bore with a set of TCB's coming with the 105tx's.

Ended up putting the MMT 105s in my zxU 3 and 4.  Tighter dispersion and ball flight slightly lower than recoil.  Really like it and plays a bit stiffer than the recoils.  The recoils were hardstepped as well too.  

Anyone else put this in a driving/utility iron? Comparisons? Seems hard to get. Anyone know where to buy a 105tx?

The heavier MMT shafts in general are on back order since they are really popular right now.  You will have to wait a bit.

MMT 105 TX is way more stable than the DI 9x IMO.  Also flights lower as well.

Bummer. Would you say the UT is just an extension of the iron shafts? So if im reading reviews of the iron shafts that same will apply to the UT? Or is it different?

Check out Mitsubishi - Tensei AV White AM2 2 iron shaft @39.5" and 90g HIGH bend.  I have it in my 17' 2 iron; it's a point and shoot club for me.  I liked it so much had 3-PW installed and wedge shafts in both wedges.  I have an MMT 105 test shaft, Tensei feels different.

Pretty much the same in terms of EI profile, feel and launch/spin.  Maybe a slight change in overall weight, but I'm not 100% sure.  

I’m playing 125tx in a U500 and love it. Playing X7s in my irons. Have played Ventus Black 10, Pro White 90, Modus 120 and a few others in driving iron/UDI clubs and the MMT suits what I’m looking for the most. I play it as an extension of my irons rather than more hybrid like.

It looks like i could get a 125 tx pretty easy. Im in modus 130x in the irons, and ventus black 6x in the driver. You think a 125tx would it be a good fit? Just a little hesitant about 125 grams in a 18 degree club.

Mines 20* and my irons shafts are 132 grams, so it’s a pretty good transition for me. I honestly don’t think it feels overly heavy or stiff at all. I’m playing the U500 as a replacement for my 4 iron, which was is also 20* (bent 2* strong) and has an X7 in it. I hit it well, but the added forgiveness of the U500 is nice. All that said, I think the 125 would be fine for you as we seem to like some pretty similar stuff

125 TX is fine.  I would recommend getting something in the 100 to 110 range though.  That's how my set up looks.  For me, I prefer a lighter shaft in my driving iron as the shaft is longer and I want to squeeze a little more distance out of it.  It's preference though. 

Bringing this thread back... Is there really any difference between the MMT 3 iron .355 tapered shaft and this UT .355 tapered shaft going into a 3 driving iron/utility? They appear to be the same profile  and weight for the 105TX. Just wondering if I am gaining or losing anything going with either or.

Don't know the answer but been using a mmt 90 parallel in my zxu and have been more than happy w it

Good evening, I just got 2 Mmt ut in I went with the 105s. I got 2 of them one 2 ZU85 and 4 ZU85. My question is what did you tip the shaft? If you tipped them at all.
