2020 PGA Championship: Glory's Only Shot

Those of you that wanted the PGA back in August...

The only major of the 2019-2020 season comes to Harding Park in San Francisco this week.

Harding Park has hosted the 2015 WGC Match Play won by Rory McIlroy, the 2009 President's Cup won by the USA and an epic playoff showdown between Tiger Woods and John Daly in the 2005 WGC American Express.

The big story coming in is Brooks Koepka trying to become the first man ever to win three PGA Championships in a row at stroke play. Walter Hagen is the only other man to win three in a row and he won four in a row at match play from 1924-1927.

Course: TPC Harding Park a par 70 of 7234 yards. It is the fourth municipal owned public course to host the PGA and the first since Tanglewood in 1974.

Purse: $11,000,000 with the winner getting $1,980,000

OWGR: the usual 100 first place points to the winner, 93 of the world's top 100 are expected (Westwood, Imahara, Pieters, Molinari and Pepperell are the missing five)

A few late drop outs include JB Holmes and Charles Howell III due to injury and Branden Grace due to testing positive for COVID 19

The twenty club pros are still in the field. The top 20 in the PGA Club Pro Standings are invited.

Brooks Koepka will win three PGA Championships in a row......By doing so he will finally prove to Jack and Tiger that golf is not all about winning majors.....His grand total of PGATOUR wins will be 8, of which 5 will be Major title wins.....At least that's what I hope will happen.

I keep meaning to go back and play it with my son. The last time I played it was years ago before they fixed it up. It was just a muni in terrible shape back then.

Power-move nobody sees coming - Tiger calls Bones and says that he needs Joey + Bonesy on the bag in order to win the PGA and in a first on tour Tiger wins with two loopers in one tournament.

Surely, the PGA have to put the two of them together for the 1st two rounds. A definite way of making sure that there are plenty of eyeballs watching on Thursday and Friday.

Your opinion, but I don’t see it. One persons arrogance is another persons confidence. The arrogance charge was also leveled at Tiger. I don’t think it was warranted there either. Brooks has always said his favorite sport was baseball but he realized he was never going to reach the major leagues but he wanted to be a professional athlete. I think “I’m too cool for golf” overstates that.

So The Masters in Nov. will count on the 2020-2021 season? Two Masters in one season?
