Titleist Tour Speed Golf Ball

Know what the Titleist EXP 01 is now. Titleist Tour Speed showing up on the internet.

$39.99 retail. Supposedly a urethane distance oriented ball.

The two worst value-for-money propositions in golf balls have to be the Titleist Tour Soft at $35/dozen (all time chutzpah champ) and in second place is EXP-01 for $40/dozen.

By comparison, buying Pro V1's at $48/dozen is a bargain.

Personally, I like the new tour soft. I've had some of my best scores with it. (That's how I judge a ball.) But for that price the Bridgestone e12 balls are a much better deal and perform about as well. They cost $25/doz here in the Atlanta area.

so $3.33/ball for a Titleist golf Ball thats not a ProV, when the actual ProV prices out to $4/ball.

If ever a time to do a giveaway, this would be it. Last thread I read about the exp 01 (which is supposedly this ball, I don't know), it was spoke about pretty negatively by others. Would be nice to get a sleeve to compare with my tp5. May eventually do that, probably not though.

My impression is that it will be best suited for 100+ MPH swing speeds. Just my thought from reading about it.

Can't we please put that silly idea of balls for certain clubhead speeds to death, once and for all? Please?

I got a sleeve in the mail today from TT to test and comment on back on their site. Putting it into play tomorrow night. Played a box of the EP-01 and I didn’t mind it at all other than durability. They supposedly fixed that but I’ll bounce one off a cart path and tree intentionally to see tomorrow!

I got a sleeve to try, its still got the same awful issues as the EXP-01. The cover gets destroyed from routine golf shots that never affect ProV1/AVX. 2nd hole last night in a scramble i drop in a green side waste bunker on a par 4. Hit a nice beautiful pitch shot and get up to mark my ball for our put near the hole and the cover is destroyed. I switched back to my normal ball. TT had sent it to me and asked me to play it and report back on their site about my experience. Feels like a waste of $40 for someone to buy a full box.

You wouldn't have to discard too many balls halfway through a round due to cover damage to make the $40 Tour Speed more expensive than the $48 Pro V1.

Yeah... those are not good signs when it comes to the new cover.

Remember a couple decades ago when any ball worth being played by a decent golfer tended to be a chewed-up mess after a few wedge shots?

Since about 2012 or so we've gotten spoiled by all the great-performing, super-durable urethane balls out there. I see no reason to buy one in this day and age that can't make it through at least 18 or 36 holes of normal play.

Durability is almost a non issue to me. It is rare for me to make it through 18 holes without losing a ball. If the compression, length, and spin are good for my game, I’ll deal with the chewed up cover.

I realize that nobody is going to agree with me. But that’s how I feel. I’m currently playing the avx and qstar tour. I'm hoping it falls somewhere between those 2.

I think you raise a valid point, but I chewed through the cover in about 4 swings. Pulled another one out and it lasted a few holes. At $40, I'd rather pay $8 more for a ProV you can put through the ringer and still be in good shape.

Well nobody should try to talk you out of it. If a lower reading on a compression gauge makes it worth getting the cover chewed up that's purely a personal value judgment.

P.S. I will say if I truly lost several golf balls per round, heck if I'd play anything with Titleist written on it. They're all too expensive to burn through a sleeve on the front nine. I'd be all over those Kirkland 3pc balls in that case!

Not if the aerodynamics favor a slower or faster swing speed.

Looks like they are priced to make you think moving up to a ProV is worth it for just a few dollars more. Of course I will try a sleeve but not very optimistic at this point.

these are competing with the BR-XS and the new TM ball. This is basically the Project-A of the Titleist line.....for $40..no interest......id rather buy Srixon or Bridgestones top balls for the same price.
