S400 TI Raw Shaft Weight

Hello - I recently purchased a set of 3-PW Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts. The raw weight of each was 133-134 grams. They were shipped directly from True Temper. I then purchased an additional 3 wedges from a well known vendor and they have a raw shaft weight of 130 - 131 grams. I thought it was odd since 130g would be S300 based on my understanding. The butt codes do indicate they're S400 TI. I'm sort of wondering if the vendor has some discretion and is actually who applies the butt code and label before shipping to the customer. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I return them? In my opinion, the TI S400 does feel different than a traditional S300, so I really wanted the slightly stiffer S400 and I'm not sure I'm getting that. Thanks in advance!

Additional info, they were all the .355 taper tip versions.

The info from True Temper indicates the S400s should be 132 grams and it's my understanding that the Tour Issue shafts are supposed to be accurate to +/- 0.5 grams.

I don't know if that number is with or without the shaft sticker but I could see the sticker being a few tenths of a gram.

Based on the numbers you provided it doesn't seem like any of the shafts you have are exactly where they should be.

I haven't ever measured any Tour Issue Dynamic Gold shafts so I can't speak on how tight the tolerances actually are.

It would probably be a good idea to check the calibration on your scale too with some know weights if possible.

Dynamic Gold S flex i sorted into 4 weight classes like this, all numbers as grams:

GOLD S200 - 125.5 - 128.5 - official 127

GOLD S300 - 128.5 - 131.5' - official 130S400 TOUR ISSUE - 131.5 - 132.5 - official 132

GOLD S400 - 132.5 - 135.5 - official 134

So, S400 shafts above 132.5 belongs to the GOLD sorting, NOT Tour issue, and shafts below 131.5 is S300 GOLD, not S400 Tour issue.

You either have a gram scale thats off, or the shafts you have is not the real deal.

ROLL them on a table and look at the shaft tip....is the TIP centered or does it wobble like its bent?

Measure butt section OD. it should be larger than 0.595 and smaller than 0.605

See the full step pattern drawings with OD on each step for the #9 iron shafts below - use the same tolerance on steps as on the butt section with .004

Example first step shall be minimum 0.576 - maximum 0.584

I just looked at what's posted on the TT site and the label is shown but no measurement. Not sure when that will come in handy but I bet it does at some point.

That drawing comes from AMT White - NOT DG Tour issue, so it cant be used to check label placement on TI shafts, but its only on the AMT White model TT has specified step OD, the length of the taper (6/8") and tolerances. The #9 iron is the same shaft for AMT White and Dynamic Gold 130 grams. Step patterns and step OD should also be the same for all DG S from #1 to #9 except the tip section length.

TI labels (uncut S400) if they are placed like the drawings for TI shows? starts at: butt section 6 inch plus 3.5 steps each of 1.75" = 12.125" from butt and down (X100 should be 14.125")
