32" Putter

Is anyone gaming a 32" putter? I have been playing a 34" Newport 2.5 but was struggling with contact consistency. I had an old Odyssey 32" Newport style in the garage. On a whim I took it to the course and my putting seemed to improve. I'm not sure if the style of putter made the difference, or if the shorter length made the difference. So now I'm thinking of cutting down the Newport 2.5 to 32". It seems the shortest putter I see mentioned in any posts is a 33". Is this because of marketing, or is there a problem cutting a putter too short, posture etc...? I'm 5' 6" with longer arms for my torso length.

I cut my putter down to 32" and then added lead tape to the bottom to get the swing weight back the way I wanted it. I am 5'7 and I think it helped me to keep me over the ball properly.

I cut mine to 31.5 this year, never been more consistent. Who cares about swingweight if your putts go in. I'm 5'9" and have always putted better kind of hunched over

Check the head weights, older putters can be a lot lighter.

I struggled a lot like you and found length to be just as important as weight.

I kept going back to my old Ping Dale head so I pick up an old school Cameron at 325g and Im super happy with it.

I've used an old Ray Cook Scotty cut down to 32. Put some lead tape on the sole until it felt right and have putted with it since the 80's.

i've been putting with a 32" putter for over 15 years. I'm 6'2" if that matters.

My gamer is a 33" (cut down and lead tape added), but I'll choke down 1/2" or so on it.  5'8".

5'9.  Playing 32 inch putters, sometimes 33, for 15 years.  Nothing else even feels comfortable at all. Plenty of lead tape which most of the time still doesn't bring it up to a "normal" swing weight. 

I just started using a 32.5” putter and feel very confident with it. The one I had before was a 35.5”.

If you are 5'6" then 32 inches will be perfect

Be aware that all off the rack golf clubs were designed and disignited for standard average American male height.

First of all, We - 5'6" golfer have no bussines with standard club lenght at all, unless golf shoes company start making golf shoes with 4" thick soles.

OP, you should wonder with all your other clubs too. Without proper lenght and lie angle, it is hard to make correct backswing with correct swing path. 

I am 5'6" with 31.5" putter lenght and 4deg upright.
