Looking for higher launch

Currently have a Hzrdus Smoke Black 5.5 60g in driver, which I was fitted for. Have never really gotten along with it for whatever reason. Not a fast swinger, only about 93-95mph. Low penetrating flight, even when lofting head up (currently 10*).

Tried a Graphite Design AD DI6-SR I got off eBay for cheap, and it launched even way lower. It’s a touch heavier too, which could be why. Suggestions?

I don't think any shaft is going to help if you are hitting low bullets with a 10* driver. You're either hitting down on the ball or otherwise presenting too little loft at impact due to your delivery. You either want more driver loft or a swing change.

If you're hitting the di Sr low, it's something with the swing.

Ya that’s what I was concerned with. I think I’m delofting the club, regardless of shaft.

What's the playing length of the driver?

Standard length on Hzrdus shaft. The Graphite Design was half inch shorter at 43.5”.

Since you didn't mention the model, standard length is more commonly between 45" to 45.75" Not aware of any standard/stock lengths of 44.0" (although I believe Cobra had a couple of 'short' offerings at 44.5").

But regardless, playing length, shaft weight, and swing weight can play a big part in the face impact location AND the dynamic loft you deliver. So generally can have much more influence on the launch and spin than the shaft profile or shaft launch characteristics. Or to put it another way, unless everything else is the same about the two builds, you can't safely blame the shaft unless it specifically feels too soft or too firm for your particular preferences.

Ya forgot to mention, standard Epic Flash 9*, playing it at 10*.

If you want to solve this using equipment you need more loft, but start by checking impact position on the face, loft vary from the bottom trough the middle to the upper part of the head, so the same player and club might see differences of up to 4* on launch angle due to impact position alone, so if your impact is center or low on the face now, you can improve launch (and spin) by moving it to the upper 1/3 of the face.

If you already are in that area, and launch is still low, go and see a swing trainer, then you are de-lofting the club.

DO NOT look for a shaft to fix this, shafts can only adjust launch slightly, and even that is depending on your load and release, so if the shafts weight is good, feel is good and dispersion is good, keep playing that shaft even if its LOW launch and you want higher launch, fix the launch issue by a impact position movement, a improved swing, or more static loft.

PS! make sure you address the face square or slightly open. The hosel adjustment for LOFT closes face angle a bit, and if you dont rotate it back, all you got was a more closed face angle still with 9* of static loft, so also try a more open face angle from address before you place your hands on the club.

Made some adjustments yesterday at the range, primarily at address. Ball position was creeping too far back in my stance, combined with me trying to get more flexion in lead wrist. Probably what contributed to the delofting of the club face. Put the original shaft back in as well and improved the ball flight considerably.

As you mentioned, I do have a tendency to square the face up too much so I’ll keep adjusting it more open as well. Thanks for the input, as always.
