B330-s don't compare to 08 Nike One Black in my opinion. For my swing Nike One Black was both longer off the tee and definitely have much more spin on half and quarter wedge shots. I personally can't stand B330-s around the greens. YMMV.

I think the B330S would be closer the Nike One Plat. They are saying the Nike One Black is like the B330

For me it is just the opposite...

I wouldn't play the NOB ball if they were given to me. The NOP ball is another story... great ball with excellent green side manners.

The B330 balls are excellent balls. The B330S is as good as any ball out there.

And yes, all of the above balls mentioned are made in Japan...

But Bridgestone just manufacturers Nike's balls according to Nike's designs, there really isn't any patent-sharing or anything like that.

there isn't? then how do you explain the seamless cover design on the Nike One's?

im not in the know but i remeber the TOUR ACCURACY having the same dimple design as the U TRI tour by PRECEPT. If you looked closely at the dimples there were small letters in the dimples that were even the same letters. BUT WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT NIKE DESIGNS THERE ON BALL!!!!!! NOW. Not so sure then. Also if you look at the patents that are listed for the PRO V and the CALLAWAY ball from a couple of years ago they had some of the same patents. HMMMMMMMMMM sounds like there are some sharing at the very least

From what I've heard, it's something like SRI and Bridgestone own most of the major golf ball patents, and they license them out to other OEMs.

Kinda different from patent-sharing... but I digress.

So if you'd like to needle about technicalities and semantics...

Seamless covers are not patent protected. Any company can produce a seamless covered golf ball.

not exactly true.

another Bridgestone patent for making seamless covered golf balls.

Considering that Bridgestone manufactures Nike's golf balls, i'd say that at the very minimum, Nike has paid for the license to use Bridgestone's molds, if not a full patent-sharing agreement.

If you've hit a NOP and any Bridgestone offering side by side, you'd know that there's no truth to that statement.

Maybe so. Prove it.

:black eye:

They're clearly different balls.

NOP is widely regarded as the "spinniest" ball available from 150 yards and in. Can you tell me what Bridgestone ball can even come close to laying claim to that?

For me, the B330-S is clearly the longest ball available for me. While the distance gains are awesome, it's not quite in the same league as a Pro V1 or NOP when it comes to serious greenside control.

Don't put the onus on me. At this rate, it stands to turn into a pissing match.

Bakemono36,

You are the one that made the claim. You should prove it.

Rock Ishi sure makes a lot of money for a guy that does nothing!

The One Platinum is a 4 piece ball with 378 dimples. The One Black is a 3 piece ball with 336 dimple. Both the B330 and B330-s have, amazingly enough, 330 dimples and are 3 piece balls.

Hardly the same.......

I merely said it wouldnt surprise me if they were the same, not that they were the same. Big difference.

J0npeterson said I was wrong, so the burden of proof is all on him.

Completely agree that the NOP is a very different ball from the Bridgestone B-330, everything from feel of the driver, ball flight, spin control on the green, everything.

Just hit the two balls! If you've ever hit a NOP, a NOB, a B-330s, and a B-330, there's not much similar there, in feel, distance, or spin. Fairly obvious. If you think that Nike should have their own ball factory, I think Nike's been smart in aligning themselves with a company that a)makes quality product themselves b)is technologically on the front line c)isn't a super huge name in the US, so that there's no huge competitive issues.

Who cares who makes Nike's ball? If you like it, buy it. If you don't, don't. They pretty much cost the same, anyhow, so what's the diff? The Nike and the Bridgestone, while maybe being made at the same factory, are not the same ball. If we were born in the same hospital, would we be twins?
