Flamed Newport Studio Stainless Gamer

Just wanted to share my Flamed Newport Studio Stainless gamer....I haven't shared this one on the boards yet.

Overall it has held up well this summer, the polished sole gives it a neat look. I call it the poor mans version of Scotty's 009.

I switched out the shaft for a brushed Black Gold last week and it gives it a sweet look now matching the satin finish.

The finish has actually held up very well over the year. The sole was buffed on my bench grinder that has a buffing wheel and I just hit it a little bit to give it a little polished finish and I think overall it has held up well. I dropped it on the toe in the garage and left a mark so I torched it and it keep the color even.

I've always wondered what it felt like to drop one of these gorgeous putters on the ground and see a little scuff on it. I must make your heart sink. I turned around in our garage the other day and my wife hand handed my 14 mo old son my putter to drag around the driveway chasing a ball. Luckily it was a 10 year old Odyssey, so I couldn't get too upset about it.

This things looks really sharp.

Was this torched with a regular torch like a hand held home torch and for how long thanks

what really made my heart sink was the fact that it seemed to fall in slow motion off the workbench. I wish I had that third arm sometimes when I am working...:-)

I kind of like when the putters I find have a bit of use to them, especially the carbon steel ones that that rust on them. I think they all should be played and not always kept on the wall as trophy's.

I used a propane torch for about 40 minutes or so...it takes some time for the head to heat up enough to begin to change colors.

Could you specify which shaft specs you bought? ie Black Gold, X stiff, wedge length .355 tip etc.

I have the SS Newport 2 that I might like to replace the shaft on as the head will be BOS torched. Does the shaft have a glint of gold to it after awhile...have not seen one myself.

I bought a black gold wedge shaft with a stiff flex and a .355 tip. The shaft has a brushed gold nickel appearance.

I did the same with an anser 2, BUT, I heated the head with a propane torch for about 5 to 8 minutes and then droped it in a small metal bucket filled with old and new oil, the color was a somewhat brownish and tans with a few blueish after I heated it for a second drop, must say to do this in a open area and since am a safety nut (USAF left over) a fire extinguisher near by.

The finish has held up nicely for two seasons of light use.
