Updated with TONS of pics 4 Sept 2008
Shortly after I got to work this morning my fiancee called and said my putter arrived. Only got home to see it now and boy is it amazing. The quality and attention to detail of this thing is unreal.

Sorry for the crappy quality but I'm not very good with the camera and the lighting is a bit dark. I'll try to take some more this weekend when I get a chance to play with it. I can't wait!!!

The curves look too similar to Cameron's Newport 2 for my tastes.

Other Anser 2 derivatives seem to have found their own signature look, from Bettinardi to Byron to Slighter. But the Gold's doesnt' even look like it modeled itself after the Anser 2, but that it just set out to follow Cameron's Newport 2.

I'm not so well versed in putter history so what I can argue might be limited, but I do have a few Camerons and Newport 2s to compare it with. I've been using Camerons since the 1990s (and have had 2 stolen) so I think I can make a pretty ok comparison.

There's no doubt that the two putters look similar, but the same can probably be said about most other putter manufacturers. They have something very similar to the Newport 2 and change it up by adding different milled faces, stamps, logos, etc. which is basically what the GF putter does as well.

In any case, I didn't buy this putter for looks (although it did help that my previous gamer is a Newport 2). I did some putting around the house to see how the GF compares to my Camerons. There is absolutely no contest. The GF is so much better weighted, so much softer, so much more solid, and the detail/craftsmanship is just so much better.

I've got a couple friends with those $1,000+ or $2,000+ Cameron putters and I'm looking forward to hearing what they say this weekend when we can get a round of golf in. Will update this thread with their impressions when I get a chance.

Thanks for all the compliments

Premium Zone Face Milling is a add on, like 250US i think (yes similar to rife) Premium Zone Face Milling

the face milling was taken from another Japanese company thats now out of business.

whilst Gold's are excellent putters, it can quickly get upto 1000 for a putter quite easy.

base price is $375 here are the add ons:

Site Line 1.7mm wide in flange: +$55.00

Small Site Dot on top line: +$55.00

Slit Line/Sound slot (floating face): +$240.00

12mm pair in sole: +$250.00

12mm pair in face AND 12mm pair in sole: +$450.00

Each pair of 12mm tungsten inserts increase weight by approx. 10+ grams.

Aluminum Inserts in cavity: +$270.00 for total 3 inserts

Brass Dot (Brass pin inserted in topline to soften feel): +$75.00

Carving of character (price for one): +$9.00

Carving Addtional G Mark/Logo: +$60.00

Premium Zone Face Milling (complete face milled like PZ - not insert): 250.00

Premium Zone Face Insert and Install - $675.00

Custom face re-milling (deeper standard grooves) and loft adjustment: +$150.00

Large Partial G Mark on Sole: +125.00

Thanks for the post Irridium. I've gotten a few PMs about price, but you guys can more or less get the ballpark from that price list.

I started with the base putter at $375 and added my own options below. All the writing is just normal character carving at $9 each. I also realized I forgot to take pics of the sole but I will do that this weekend.

Extra G Mark

Sight Dot

P-Z Milling

Sole Tungsten Weights

Partial G Mark Milled on Sole

IOMIC Blue

If I hadn't got my Bettinardi DASS Proto BB8 FIT face welded neck putter, I would have bought a custom Gold's a looooooong time ago.

This putter is just a work of true Japanse hand crafted art from Master Sasaya himself :drinks:

I can't even describe how great and beautiful this Gold's putter looks.

To the guy bashing the putter for looking too much like a Scotty: What if the guy wanted a Gold's with similar looks, do you realize he may have even stressed that he wanted it to look like a Scotty NP 2 putter

When I will order my Gold's Factory, I will have Master Sasaya make it looks very close to my favorite putter shape of all putters in the world - the Bettinardi BB8.

It's the feel of the Gold's putter that's remarkable - you can have a gold's custom putter made almost just like you want it.

This is not off the shelf stuff - so if a guy wants it to resemble a Scotty NP2 or a Ping Anser 2, then let it be so :D

This putter really need to be taken out on some grass and have some proper pictures taken of it - I really hope it performs well for you.

How much did you have to shell out for it ?

I guess mine will cost me in the region of $1.250-$1.350 - I want the G Field insert with screws in the cavity ;)

Good luck with it, you'll enjoy it for sure :birthday:

Funny you said that, I actually did want it like the Newport 2. I asked before I ordered which model most closely resembles the Newport 2 since that's the putter I've been using for so many years.

It was right around $1,400 when all was said and done.

kitsoasis - I've linked below to the 2 models that Gold's offers. I think there are actually more if you take a look around the site. I know there is one premium metal one that starts at like $1,300 or something... and I've seen some malet style ones as well. Mine is based on the Private Stock #2.

Actually I may as well link you to his blog, too. It has TONS of pics of putters he has crafted over the years. Have fun, I know I did

Hey, you got some new pics up - great :swoon2: .......

3 Q's for you:

1. What's the finish called ?

2. Does it glare at all in direct sunlight ?

3. Will it eventually rust ?

Thanks :D

1. Soft Black

2. The outside edge and the bottom of the putter do, but when you're standing over it it doesn't

3. I'm not 100% sure but I believe so

nice watch....and putter too

Where do you see a watch :pardon: :swoon2:

I only see his Omega bracelet - no watch

Did I miss something - I like some Omega watches, not all of them.

Especially like the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono with orange dial and numbers :good:

Omega De Ville is OK too :D

Some of the other Omega stuff is OK, but nothing special.

:D Are you being sarcastic? haha... as far as I know Omega doesn't make any bracelets, do they?

Anyways, it's a Speedmaster. It was my first watch and my daily so the clasp is a bit dinged up :birthday:
