Titleist Pro V1X vs. Nike One Black 2008

One Platinum 2008...and it ain't close.

Umm.. re-read the original post, he isn't asking about the Platinums. He's asking between the Black and the V1x. To be honest, look at your own game and what you want to do. If you want longer bombs off the tee, then get the Black. If you want more greenside fun, then the V1x is your ball. Personally, since I am trying to play more course managemnt than sheer distance, I'm trying the Platinums and the TaylorMade TP Red right now. Nothing against Titleist since the ProV1 is a great ball, but I don't really like the 50 dollar price tags so I am going with the next ones. And no, I ain't hitting a cally because the past offerings were harsh and I ain't going through that again.

But again, look at your game and what you want more... if it's sheer distance, grab the Black want more greenside fun, get the V1x.

you cant really compare the 2 because the black is like the pro v1 and the platinums are like the pro v1x. to compare the 2...black wont spin as much as the v1x. v1x spins more.

Confusion again . Platinum is more like prov1 with plenty spin and softer . Black is hard ball like V1x . IMO with limited experience with black and 2007 V1x . V1x is a better ball of the putter ( less click lil softer than the black ) . Slightly more roll = distance with black one .

I have traded some distance for the greenside and putter feel of one platinum. TP red LDP for windy days .

Pro V1x. period.

I have played them both, they are both Tour balls. I too thought the Titleist was a bit softer and had more spin but the Nike was longer. I think this is in our mind because of the perception we have of golf balls in general. I was a ProV guy but i did the research and found out that both of those balls have almost identical specs when hit with a robot. With a 90mph swing speed both balls went right at 250 yards, with a sand wedge rpm's both at about the same 12400 rpms and on the Shore D Durometer both had a hardness or in their case a softness of 56. I spin the ball well already so i went with a ball that is just as soft with the same distance but less spin in the Srixon AD333, it has helped it cutting down some side spine it seems and i havent noticed a difference spinning irons into the green. hope this info helps...see golf magazine Feb 2008 for more info on the myths and facts of golf balls

I'd go with the ProV1X just because I value short game performance more- especially putter feel. A 300 (275 for me) bomb down the middle of the fairway counts exactly the same as tap in (after a 30 footer).

If you believe the NOB plays better in the wind, then switching to it on a windy day shouldn't cause you any problems. If you believe the NOB is "longer" enough to alter your next shot (shorter club better accuracy) then that will take pressure off your putter as well- hitting 8i's instead of 6i's into greens.

If price is a concern, go NOB- the '08 version can be had for $30 a dozen.

I tend to go with whatever putts better- that's why I'm using ProV1's instead of ProV1X's (both are 2007 models).

i'd pick the ProV1x for it's feel and greenside spin...preferably the '05 version but would still take the '07 V1x over the NOB.
