it doesn't, thats just how much its priced at, not correlation to the price charged. It could take one more man hr to make but it would still be priced only a hundred above everything else. Any smart seller prices at the max they feel the market will pay.

If everybody tomorrow banded together and said they would not buy scotty cameron he would be out of business in a week. Same as a house. People get emotional in feeling what they want for their house. Sorry....a house is worth what the market is willing to pay. Scotty cameron is a pricing/marketing genius who has cultivated a money making image. Good stuff at premium prices. $999 for a putter is obscene, but that to me, to the guy with cash falling out of his pockets its acceptable.

Just wondering, why does it cost a lot to make the button back? Aren't those the same buttons as the Studio Style? What is the insert made of?

I was attempting to get a button back, but not anymore if that is the price. I assumed 600 would be the price. Oh well, I can buy a Bettinardi instead now.

That's a pretty wide margin for pricing if it can vary $400.00 in between stores. Seems a little weird. Wouldn't there be a set MAP price?

i hear ya but when the special vokeys came out they were sold for $270, then certain golf stores sold them between $280-$1299. So its the same thing here. Every big box store will be different. Not sure of there being a MAP price, dont remember seeing one on the T10's.

MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Pricing. You can charge more than that, just not less.

i dont see why it shoul cost more than the studio select newport. When teh tei's came out they didnt cost more than the regualar newports

Wholesale is much higher than the Studio Select retail models. The Buttonback is a Limited Ed and is a once time only thing. MAP stands for minimun, there is no maximum, so the stores can charge whatever they feel like

Then the "general consumer" remains uninformed, and that's too bad.

Everyone knows Scotty is an OK putter maker and a MASTER marketing man; whatever the plan it will cost us.

I understand and you have a valid point. The thing is, even if C&L or Byron tries putting their putters in retail shops, is that retail store going to stock those or the names people know?

Not a hater, I have a David Duval that I love. However, for that price, I would rather have 1 of each of the afore mentioned putters.

Thanks for sharing the cost. I think I figured it out.

The unit cost is naturally higher because of this thing called "economies of scale." Since only 2008 button backs will be produced, then the fixed costs associated with making the putter will give a higher cost per putter. Also since it is a specialty market, Cameron should look for higher margins because he is selling at a much lower volume. This all translates to a higher cost.

As to the poster requesting the esteemed nickpoz to post pictures, there really would be no need. By the time he would have pictures to share, the pics would already be out in the Cameron and Titleist sites or through some promotional materials which will be shared here such as catalog scans or media files.

I was told the buttonbacks putters would be $500 retail and $350 cost. also only 4,000 made. my friend works at a course and just ordered one.
