Unaccredited PGM Universities?

hopefully someone can help here, but I'm taking a year off and working right now after my freshaman year at a local college where I had an undeclared major.(pretty much forced to get the first year under my belt with good grades by my parents) anyway, I want to transfer to a university that offers the PGM program because that's what I really want to do. I was looking at all the accredited universites and I found out that SUNY Delhi offers the PGM program, but is not listed on pga.com, so I guess it's not accredited. So does anybody know of any other Universities that offer the PGM program other than the 20 big ones listed on the PGA's website? And also, is it worthless to go to a University and do the PGM if they're not on the pga's accredited list? Thanks in advance.

I actually just finished up my final PGM checkpoint tests this past weekend at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. We've been accredited since 2003 and I can tell you that it was a pretty thorough process. That being said, I'm sure the quality of the education would be pretty similar. but the whole point of going through an accredited PGM program is the ability to be elected as a PGA member when you're finished. Graduating through an accredited university basically gives you instant credibility.

If you're interested in getting into the business, it's a great way to go. The route I took gave me a marketing degree at the same time as the PGA membership, which is extremely important because it turns out that I'm not going to be working in the golf industry, at least for the time being.

I guess the point is that if you're willing to put in the 4 1/2+ years the PGM program requires, don't waste your time with a university that's not accredited by the PGA.

I have to agree with jmittens24...not trying to take anything away from the non-accredited PGM schools (I'm sure you'd still learn a lot), but why go to a school that gives you zero PGA of America "credits". If you plan on a career in the golf industry, a PGA of America membership is practically required. Instead of waiting to work toward PGA membership after college, you'd be doing it during college.

Instead of asking if you should attend a PGM-accredited school, I would ask you...why attend a non-accredited program?
