Nike One Black

Longer distance. Penetrating flight. Like the TA2-LNG but with a larger high-velocity core and thinner urethane cover, yet with the same thick top coating as the Nike One Gold for an added touch. 3-Piece urethane distance ball built for distance off more aggressive swing speeds.

Why don't you like the Nike equip? They have come a long way!!!

I'm not bagging on thier performace, I just don't care for the 'look' of Nike clubs. I think the ProCombos look cheap. I think the SQ is ugly. Wedges are plain. Blades are nice, but there are better. Slingshots are ugly.

I think the best clubs they've ever come up with were the T60 fairway woods - great look, setup and performance. But the OneBlack is a great ball. Haven't tried the Platinum.

Likes: Distance, feel off the putter, spins, but not too much.

Dislikes: Not very durable. (Probably the main reason I'll keep searching for the perfect golf ball) I found that after almost any decently struck iron shot there was a noticeable scuff on the ball. For me, if I pay $40 a dozen, they have to hold up.

Cheers,

Ben

Love this golf ball. Put the new 2007 In play today for the first time. For me its perfect off the driver for spin, soft off the irons with decent amount of back spin (not too much, not too little).

What I noticed differently from the old Blacks to the '07's was it has a softer feel with driver and irons, little bit more spin and a little softer feel off the putter. Can't give an honest review if it's any longer then the old ones (first time out this year) but we'll see when it gets warmer and have a few more rounds under my belt.

Anyone else try the '07 Blacks yet?

Would anyone recommend these for a mid-handicapper or are they more for low handicappers?

I play to a 12 and am looking for a mid-trajectory ball that is soft and long off the driver and irons while still providing a good amount of spin and a lot of feel off the short irons and putter. Thanks!

This ball will do you just fine.

Well I'm going against the grain but I find this to be just a mediocre ball in a category full of incredible performance balls.

I find the Nike One Black isn't the best in any one category. Distance, feel, greenside spin, putting. I want to like this ball as I am really enjoying most of the Nike product I own, so I keep coming back to it and trying it out, but to be honest, I can't get a single thing out of this ball that I can't find in the Ignite ball.

This ball performs like a decent mid-priced 3 piece ball. Unfortunately there are reviews here spanning multiple generations of the ball, but as I write this, the current NXT Tour gives me more bang for the buck. Premium ball wise, I'd advise anyone considering this ball to look at the current HX Tour ball from Callaway. I get better overall distance (not quite as much fairway roll) but a very notable amount of greenside spin advantage over the NOB.

I play the Platinum but I'll play Blacks as well, when I get 'em. They are definitely longer than the Platinum, and while not as soft, they do quite well around the greens. Great ball.

IMO, the Black is basically the Gold. When they had all three, I found the Black to be too hard for my tastes. The Gold was good, the Platinum the best. But when they discontinued the Gold, I think they made the Black more like the Gold.

A good ball, but for me the NIKE ONE PLATINUM is better

IMO

A good ball, not a great ball

Long off of the Driver and irons. Stable in the wind.

Felt hard to me. Did not get the spin around the greens I'm used to with the ProV1 and the recently played Callaway ix tour.

Durability was similar to the ProV and not near as good as the Tour ix.

Overall I would rate it behind

ProV

Bridgestone B330

Srixon Z urc

Callaway tour ix

I haven't tried the new Taylormade balls yet. From what I'm told they may just be the best ball of all.

Happened to pick up a box of these awhile back when I traded in some balls at target. (I normally play nxt tours which they didn't have.....plus after reading these seemed to be something to try.) I picked them up because I tend to hit the ball very high...which isn't always bad, but any wind and it it just eats my ball. Especially when I'm hitting into the wind. They sat in my closet for quite sometime after thinking from past experience that nike balls were like hitting rocks. Maybe due to my swing speed when first starting out. Anyway one day I took them out, and they are just right where I want them. Nice trajectory......like a bullet. I know most want the ball to stay in the air longer, but I just need mine to come down. So if that sounds like you.....this is definitely the ball. They have a different feel to them though. I wouldn't say too hard but you definitely feel them. Nice feel off the putter ...bit of a crips click. A little hard to get use to chipping, but definitely not lacking spin. Now mind you I am using the older model.....the one with the "one" lettering in gold and sparkles in the nike check. Which I think looks much better than the 2008 model but that's just me. (I actually think its pretty close to the best looking ball out, and I'm a big titleist fan.) I did pick up a box of the 2008 model recently, and after testing I will let you guys know the difference. From everything I have read hopefully the only difference is some extra yards due to the power transfer layer. I hope the trajectory is the same. I know they2008 sound a bit softer. You make think it's odd, but they do alot of tests on the way we relate feel by sound. ANd if you bounce the ball on like tile you can hear what I"m talking about. Sometimes a ball may be soft but by sound you will perceive it to be hard. Anyway check it out.

On another note.......All the people using platinums...... i don't know how that works out so well. Every review on that ball I've read says don't touch that ball unless your tiger or just like him. They say pretty much that if you don't swing with that kind of speed and his type of swing....you aren't going to get anything out of it. Check the nike website. So if you are using that ball and you don't swing at least 115mph ..... you are definitely losing yardage and I mean alot Its one of the shortest balls in the top ball lines.......And I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound good. Don't get me wrong.....when I was looking into the specs and videos. I see tiger and I want to try out his ball too.......and probably will still. But just doesn't seem smart. ANyway........... my opinion.

Normally I stay away from Nike products but I got a shag bag of practice One Blacks from a friend of an European Tour event. Great ball and they best ball for my putter (true roll, soft feel)! My U-Tri's and Pro V1's are running out, so if I can find a good deal..... The Gold and Platinum just don't feel as good as the Black.

I used a dozen balls of the Nike One Black last year and although it's everything I hoped it'd be on longer distance yet not sacrificing control they scuff very easily and quickly could not use them after 3 rounds or so. I gather it scuffs more easily as the design of the outer layer is thinner than most other balls.

I am considering trying the Platinum series, but am a bit hesitant dishing out more money than the blacks if they too scuff easily. I am hoping they are more durable in relation to the scuffs as if this is the case I'll definitely give it a go.

Any comments on those how have tried both the Platinum series vs. the One Black would be helpful.

thanks.
