What's your hybrid

I have an 11 year old son that has a swing speed of 80 mph. with the driver. He hits his 7 iron 125 and plays to a 9 hcp. on 5500-5700 yard courses. I want to replace his 3 iron with a hybrid and am wondering what you guys like. I am a fan of the TM rescues but am interested in your opinions.

I am a fairly similar to your son, atleast in swing speed, and I personally love the Nike Sumo2 hybrids. They hit very well for me, and I'm hoping to pick up another one soon to go with my 4 :)

Best bet is to stay away from stiff flex shafts for now, and you also want a club thats easy to hit and gets high quick.

I play a Bridgestone 18* hybrid with an X-flex NV to replace a 5 wood. I use to own a Cleveland 22* that replaced my 3 iron. It had an R-flex shaft and as a result I had no issue getting that club up in the air. Sold it a couple years back because it just didn't work for where I'm at in the game now.

So I say try out a Cleveland hi-bore hybrid, and get a lightweight regular flex shaft.

first you need to decide wether your looking for a players hybrid or a more forgiving hybrid, basically how good of a ball-striker is your son, would he benefit from some forgivness on offcenter hits(who wouldnt lol)

better players hybrids that are good

cobra baffler pro, adams idea pro and pro gold, most say the adams pro is the bee's knee's, there are many others aswell

more forgiving, ping g10, adams a2 or a3 or tech a4, nickent makes a good hybrid

hybrids tend to be very personal, i hear a lot of guys going through five hybrids before finding the right one, you may want to go to your local shop and have him find the one he likes

Have the 19* halo the head is just perfect. i am thinking about replacing my four iron with another one and just playing 5 and up irons (which i can hit). I figure why fight the 4 iron with a club this accurate and forgiving :good: . + I found my last one for $80 a while ago.

I tried many of the hybrids on the market and ended up loving Callaway's FT Hybrid. This club gets the ball up in the air extremely easily and has a nice penetrating ball flight.

I never liked hybrids, I had the original rescue but I couldnt control it. I found a used Bridgestone J33 and thought I would give it a try and I am glad I did. Its very easy to hit and looks good.

I am older than your son and my swing speed is about 95 but some of the kids I play with who are a bit younger than me have swing speeds around 80 and both of them carry Adams idea hybrids and one of them has a Nike SQ Sumo2 hybrid as well. I carry a Nike SQ Sumo2 and it is very High Launching and a great club for younger players. I also carry a Taylormade Tour Burner 2008 hybrid and it is good but it is a little less forgiving. If your son is a pretty consistant ball striker, one of those would be fine but I really recommend the Nike SQ Sumo2 or Adams Idea Tech OS. The Sumo2 is $149.99 and the Adams were $100 at our Dick's Sporting Goods.

i had the Callaway X Series Hybrid in 19*

i thought it was very easy to hit and had a really nice high ball flight,

i have since changed to a TaylorMade R7 tp 5 wood instead just because i want a lower ball flight and i changed to a stiff shaft

But i reccomend the callaway hybrids, they are easy to hit

i have a 19* 909h, but wouldn't recommend it for an 11 year old.

Take a look at the Nickent 3dx line...the DC is older and can be found for cheap, or the RC model. Both are higher launching and very forgiving with deep faces.

Ping G 10, better get em regular flex tho. low center of gravity keeps the ball in the air. Hot face gets it out there. gives me great confidence. :good:

i use a callaway FT 21*, its goes high and about 10 yards further than the 3 iron it replaced and more importantly it lands as soft as a short iron

Nothing, I like higher lofted woods better.
