Bettinardi compared to C&L

kdmtuscani

Recommended Posts

I am looking at getting a new putter over the next couple of weeks and my final 3 choices are Bettinardi, Byron Morgan & C&L. I have read many threads on how C&L compare to Byron and how Bettinardi compares to Scotty etc. and would like to know those who have used the Bettinardi & C&L what your thoughts were on the two putters?

I recently was able to get a Demo of a Byron and currently waiting on a Demo from C&L. The only Bettinardi's I have used were his retail offerings and have not hit any of the D.A.S.S. offerings before.

Thanks to all for their help.

Chris

I can’t help you compare but I can tell you about the C&L. Had one for about a year and its still in the bag. Didn’t even put it on probation much less send it to jail, (the closet under the back staircase).

The C&L looks great behind the ball, feels soft and solid, and puts a great roll on the ball. If I miss it was the stroke not the putter.

I’m very high on these putters. Give one a try.

Steve,

Thank you for your insight on the C&L!!! I am pleased to hear you didn't consider taking it out of the bag. (Let alone Jail  ) That says a lot about their putters. I am very excited to try one.

I have only used the C&L on the practice green as my son has one. I have 3 DASS Bettinardi putters BB-41, BB-42, BB-43 that I rotate. I have been using them for about 6 yrs as NOTHING as been able to kick them out of my bag!! If I had a C&L it would probably be in the closet next to my 4 Camerons. Just my opinion.(Been playing golf for 35 yrs) +1 hdcp

I am on 3 C&Ls now. I have a couple custom Scotty's and they look pretty on the wall. Right now my gamer is a SS CL1. Everything that I try that's not a C&L just ends up getting sold and I end up loosing money :D

And a huge plus is the way Chip and Lee handle/run their business... Just a great couple of guys who love putters like we do...

My gamer is a Bettinardi BB1 fit face, it's definitely one of the best putters I own. A Byron putter is not that bad either, it feels good and has great balance but just feels different from my Betti. I also own 2 scottys and a few of the other putters from different companies. No other putter has been able to kick out my Bettinardi. I'm also looking for a second Bettinardi because it has just amazing feel to them. If your looking for a Betti or have any questions you can go to BETTINARDILTD. COM and check out their putters. Jimmy can definitely help you find your dream putter, he's a great guy to talk you and also very helpful when your looking for that special putter. Good luck and let us know what you choose.

A big thank you to all that have helped so far! :D The info all of you have shared so far has given me a lot more insight on these putters. I will say I have spoke with Ben at Studio B, Nick at RJB Collector, Lee at C&L and Steve with Byron and so far ALL have been extremely accommodating with all of my questions so far! I will decide within the next week or so with my choice as finals wind down and will definitely let all of you know what I choose.

The C&L's look nice, but my only problem with them is that they only have one head shape to choose from.

I own 2 Bettinardi's, 40 or so Cameron's, 4 T.P. Mills putters, 2 C&L putters, 4 Byrons, and then several odds and ends from Ping, Palombi, Slighter, and other manufacturers. The C&L putters are very nice feeling, and they put a great roll on the ball. I have a carbon and a stainless, and the feel on each is very good. I prefer them slightly to the Byron putters, but only slightly. The time that Chip and Lee put into the putters is very evident by their quality and feel. They stamp the putters well, and will get you the paint you want too.

That being said, I prefer my D.A.S.S. Bettinardi to any of the putters I have. It feels amazing, sets up perfect, and makes more putts than anything else I have ever putted with. If you don't mind splurging a bit for a D.A.S.S., then you will not be disappointed. I don't think you would be disappointed with a C&L either though. Hope this helps some.

TM Golf Guy, Those pics are very helpful! Your expereinces with the putters is also great. I am very excited to try one of the D.A.S.S. putters. I may have to take a trip (soon) to Studio B :yahoo:

OSU_Cowboy. I am glad to hear this thread has helped you out. I will be honest and say I recently got a SC Newport 2 and after 3 months of waiting for it... It has already been sold. I putted with a Newport before and the Newport 2 did not beat my old Spalding "Rocker."

Big A HG: That's a great idea on the fitting. I think Studio B may be my best bet. I don't have many fitting options here in Central IL.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Bettinardi's 44th birthday present to his fans... the 44 magnum

44 copper ingots in a DASS head

444 putters made

I won't unwrap mine but I hear it s a sweet ride for the ball.

Here is an update on my quest for a new putter... I picked up a Bettinardi C02 over the Winter and am extremely impressed with the quality of the putter. I am going to head to Studio B and get fitted for a DASS model in the Spring. :)

Chip,

I have thought about that before! I agree with you that it would look very nice. I'm currently waiting on a demo from Lee and honestly will probably end up with a C&L as well as a Bettinardi.

The RJB is the one putter I have yet to buy.....

That said, I have several Byrons and C&L's and they are BOTH totally awesome. My 1st Run #86 C&L is firmly entrenched in my bag right now...

Good luck and enjoy!
