Moving to Hawaii

So the Army is moving me to Hawaii in January, which is great cause I get to leave Washington in the Winter to go!! Anyways, my first anniversary is on New Years eve and just found out my wife got me tee times at Turtle Bay when I go!!! I am excited!! What should I expect?

I'm fortunate enough to go on a 2 month deployment to Central America in January but moving to Hawaii would sure beat that! :) Have fun and hook up with some Hawaiian WRXers when you move!

I am stationed in Hawaii. You can expect some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine on the courses, generally awsome weather (the last week has sucked hard though, rains, wind, and flooding.) Some of the longest rounds of golf you will ever see (A lot of people on this little rock play golf.) Also there are many different types of tracks to choose from. Ko olau is stunning with mountain and some ocean views. Turtle Bay is a well kept course (over priced imo) the military has some fine courses as well. In short it is a golfer paradise. P.S. the grain on the greens here is way different than I anything I have ever played prior to.

Hopefully she got your times on the Palmer course. If on the Fazio course..eh, it just course, but then spring for the Palmer course. My favorite track on Oahu.

A couple of the military courses there are great.....The Clipper course in Kaneohe (Marines) and Mamala Bay (Air Force) are a ton of fun.

Thanks alot!!! I will be moving there on Jan. 31st. She bought me a gift certificate, so I will play the best one. Also she got me a gift certificate for Chambers Bay here in Tacoma, home of the 2015 US open!! My wife loves me!!! Only thing, there is snow here and we leave in a month!!0

Just to let you know, Ko'olau now has Military Appreciation Days. The First and Third Friday of every month is only $30 for active duty military. Including the cart and greens fees.

Hate to tell you this, but Turtle Bay is on the cold side of the island. ;)

Congrats! Very envious as I look out at 6-7 inches of snow.

As for Chambers Bay.. Hopefully your certificate does not expire and you will be able to come back and play it possibly in 2010. I was just there a couple weeks ago and the greens were some of the worst I have ever played on in my life. Don't get me wrong, the course is cool and the views awesome, but the conditions on the greens were horrible. I won't go back for another couple years until they get it figured out.
