Calling all Bullseye Fanatics

I absolutely love putting with bullseye shaped putters and want to get one. But I am interested in what other companies made putters shaped like the bullseye.

I know of Slighter, Titleist, Auschnet and that's pretty much it. There has to be others out there???

Pictures of YOUR bullseye putter would be great!!!

Thanks guys

I love Bullseyes too, and I use a Titleist/Acushnet standard flange. I also have a Cameron Pro Platinum Heavy Flange and a brass Titleist "SC" flange.

Other Bullseyes:

Cleveland Designed By 1948

Bettinardi Grande Riserva

Wilson Augusta

T.P. Mills (there were some handmade Bullseyes)

Ping O-Blade (about as close as you'll get from Ping)

That's all I can think of. Not many companies--except mini-golf-course suppliers--will continue to make Bullseyes, even though I think they're still a great design. I've really been wishing that Yes! would make a Bullseye. I think they'd roll pretty sweetly.

Did someone say bullseye?! :D

I have been using a Bullseye (John Reuter Jnr and now Scotty) for about 15 years now... Love 'em! :man_in_love:

Heaps more info on here... just do a search for "Bullseye"

Cheers,

Waz

P.S Cleveland have released a model just recently that is much cheaper than the Scotty's if you are not a Scotty fan... but you can obviously tell that I am!

Sorry, to threadjack, but where is the sweetspot on a Bullseye style putter? Is it in line with the shaft along the face or toe side of where the shaft would extend throught the face?

That's where it was on the last Cameron bullseye I had.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was working in a golf shop about 3-4 years ago. We specialized in selling liquidated equipment from struggling or bankrupt golf shops. On one occasion, we got 6-7 brand new Titleist John Reuter bullseyes. We priced them at $12.99. I bought two of them for myself (I should have bought them all). My main purpose for buying them was to practice various putting strokes both left and right handed. The feel of the brass Bullseye is simply amazing. I also love the simple, unhindered look at address. The Bullseye became my gamer and has been in the bag ever since.

HOWEVER-

Last week I was browsing Golf Galaxy.com and saw Cleveland 1948 Bullseyes for $19.99. Without a demo I bought one. WHen it arrived, I took a few test rolls on the carpet. Very nice. A bit heavier, and possibly a bit bigger sweet spot. The Cleveland also has a milled face, sight lines, and a very nice leather grip. I'm not sure it will dethrone the Titleist, but it has potential. Very nice putter, with a lot of high end features for TWENTY BUCKs!! It might be nicer (or at least as nice), in terms of features than the newer Scotty Cameron Bullseyes.

I'm going to try out the 1948 on Monday. If it makes the cut, I'm going to buy another.

UPDATE- I got the 1948 on the course on Monday. Initial feeling is its a noticeable improvement over the original Titleist brass model. The most user friendly Bullseye model I've tried. Puts a GREAT roll on the ball. The alignment aid on the top line is functional and works well. Seems to be more forgiving than other versions (thats not saying much- "bullseye" and "forgiving" don't belong in the same sentence). At $19.99, I'm ordering another. I can't beleive they still have these in stock at that price.

If you find someone let me know.

Gold's Factory could/would do it but between what he charges and the freight back and forth (Japan) makes it just a bit cost prohibitive. ($400)

Here is one that I ran across and couldn't stand to leave where I found it.

000_0007.jpg

000_0006.jpg

000_0008.jpg

I posted it here and I believe that it was thought that it may be a prototype model. The badge, under the CARBITE logo says, Tungsten-Titanium-Tungsten. I believe that the multi-metal blade is one that never made it to production in this shape.

The shaft is original and a gorgeous blue-black/chrome. It is sitting on a shelf on the wall and is probably headed to a BST, somewhere, soon. It has been in my house long enough and would be a sweet item for someone else, probably.

Check out the pics and I hope that someone enjoys them.

The Top Flite Micro Groove series featured a bullseye style, traditional blade I think they called it, which used face milling licensed from Rife. Bit squarer looking than the original bullseye but a solid little putter none the less and can be picked up cheap, mine was $15.

Would love to see a Yes Bullseye.

Found an old Acushnet Reuter bullseye today that is an offset model. Are these common? It is the first one I have run across...

I wouldn't say they're common (unlike the standard, heavy, flange, and la femme), as I usually don't see them either. But I wouldn't quite call them rare (and therefore, particularly valuable) either. A good putter, nonetheless.

The Golden Goose by John Letters was the pre-Bullseye bullseye, so to speak.

I once had a Bullseye "La Femme" - new about 20 years ago, proper brass. That one had the nice flange on it.... stupdily i messed with it and threw it away.

They should be in brass, really.... strange how no other putters are produced in this material anymore - don't think there's environmental issues with it, unlike Beryllium Copper etc. Great natural softness and sound with graceful aging looks.

Do have an old Reuters Bullseye also, still.

Wonder if Byron would make up a Channel Islands in brass....... hmmm. Or a Mills.

I was wondering about this when I started reading this thread and due to my recent putter purchases, but I am starting to think more people should try out a bullseye type putter because of the fact that they are not offset. Heres my thinking...

I changed irons and went from bigger ping type clubs to the Taylormade TP mb irons and now I can't go back to those offset models because I think i'll just hook the crap out of them. Now I'm wondering if too many people are willing to go for some anser style putter with all the offset rather than a more neutral look. I bought a new Odyssey putter that isnt quite a bullseye but it is center shaft and I have putted really good with it. Now when I look at an offset one I think I'm going to pull everything.

Thoughts?

I agree, Ive used Ping irons for years and switched to Mizuno blades to see how Id get on with them. I much prefer no offset eventhough it makes the three iron a s**t to hit!!

I have had quite a lot of old bullseyes, usually find them beat up and bring them back to life. Oh yeh and lets not forget the John Letters Golden Goose!! Great putters

  • 1 month later...

After missing too many 4-footers with my Ping B60, I decided to go back to my ca. 1982 Bullseye wide-flange offset 36-inch shaft. On my first hole, I sank an 8-footer with it. The next day in a tournament, I got up-and-down for par 8 times thanks to some pretty good chipping and sand play and the Bullseye sinking 1-5 footers. I missed my only three birdie putts, but shot 80, hitting just three greens in regulation, and won my flight.

I'm also reading "Dave Pelz's Putting Bible," so I'm sure that helps, but the Bullseye really putts true and has great feel for distance.

I polished it up a little and posted some pics below. I got this putter new when I was about 13 and played with it for 10 years before switching to an Anser, then got the B60 about 4 years ago. I've never been a great putter, but did my best work with the Bullseye.

It seems like the hosel has gotten bent over the years and the putter sits a little flat. How does it look to you guys? The club repair guy at the local Pro Golf store said bending it more upright would risk snapping it, so I'm leaving it like it is for now.
