Ping Hoofer Light?

Yea or nea, and any other lightweight bag sugg's

So what say you users? Is this bag worth the outlay? Any problems? Any praises?

If it was, in your opinion, a stinker, what equivalent bag would fit my bill? I'll consider Ogio, Titleist, Daytrek, etc... essentially any other lightweight bag manufacturer that offers something in the same (or lower) weight range. I'm not a big guy, so excess weight's a bit of a PIA ;)

My view: Any sub 4 lb bag is built light (Doh!), so won't last long, and they mostly all look and feel that way. pockets design is mostly meaningless, as long as the bag has a few - if you're buying a light bag, filling up lots of different pockets with 'stuff' defeats the purpose of a lightweight bag - it's a minimalist thing.

THE KEY THING.. check out how the straps fit you. Go to a store, ask them if they mind you loading up a bag you're thinking of buying, and actually see how the damn thing feels when it's loaded up. My biggest purchasing blunders with carry bags have been ill fitting straps.

PS.. the hoofer light straps fit me great - your mileage may vary.

Since they are closing out the Hoofer Lite, the prices are right if you can find one. Around here, they are mostly gone.

I didn't much care for the Hoofer Lite, due to the pocket layout. At the time I was looking, I had a Sun Mountain 3.5 which has a much better pocket situation for the times you chose to carry a rain suit, etc. Another excellent 3.5 pound bag is a Mizuno, also a bit cheaper than the Sun Mountain.

Ultimately, I opted for a Ping J bag...found one on closeout for the right price.

But like the previous post said, don't expect the super light bags to be overly durable.

I've picked one up after actually putting the clubs into it, and comparing to the new ping bags. The bag seems decent enough to me, it's not quite the same quality as my hoofer 3 or my old L8, but it's super lightweight and I imagine as long as I'm reasonably gentle with it the bag should last me a while.

Hmmm... durability might be an issue... if there's any adjective that doesn't quite describe me it would be gentle... but that's more of an issue of klutziness than intentional malice

Well, I pulled the trigger at the Beantown Expo and bought one. For $70 or so, I couldn't resist. The 8 way dividers don't seem to be too much of a pain. We'll see after I've stuffed it full of clubs and have to deal with pulling one and then putting it back in on the fly.
