How did this get on the bay!?!?!

I think they make 2 for every victory. One for the Vault - one for the player. I could be mistaken.

I always thought the victory putters were solid gold or is that for majors only?

I just read something by Tom Kite about the solid Gold Ping putter they give him as a winner of a tournament.

Worth something like $24,000. I need to look it up in the book A Fairway to Heaven.

Why would Tom Kite give his Ping Champion's putter to a fellow in NJ??

I was lookin at that putter too...So sick! How it got on the 'bay, I have no idea.

I think the putters were all solid gold and then changed to gold plated except for the majors. Not sure when they changed it though.

IM calling bull on this putter. This may be a replica but his is not the real deal. The real deal is SOLID GOLD, not gold PLATED. Dont fall for this as the real thing.

was looking for a unique way to thank and reward the professional for using a PING putter en route to victory. He decided to commemorate each victory by creating two gold-plated replicas of the winning putter. One he gave to the champions. The other he kept at the company's Phoenix, Arizona headquarters. Both were engraved with the professional's name and the name of the tournament he or she won.

Ping is probably gonna strip him of his PING retailer account for selling the putter under issued price...............ZING!............hahahaha zing.......haha

And yes - they're gold plated unless it's a major. Winners of the majors get a SOLID GOLD head.

In his description it's says 1981, but the pictures of the putter clearly shows 1991 Tom Kite which is correct.

I've seen O' Mearas collection of gold plated from his victorys and his solid gold one from his Masters victory. Wow :D

That putter has been on sale on the ebay for quite a number of years was originally on for 20K as I remember, still no takers! Assuming it is the same putter over on PT they came to the conclusion it was the genuine article!

It looks like the Circle T could have been double stamped... It does happen...

Something smells really bad about this. An above poster mentioned this. There are only two putters made in gold. One for Ping and the other for the golfer. Maybe Tom Kite gave it to him as a gift. Maybe not, but even if it was a gift, I would feel really bad if I sold it without the knowledge of the person who gave it.

I am lucky enough to have been in the VAULT a couple of times...the history is incredible.

There are a few gold irons also.....Bob Tway USPGA 1986 springs to mind.

That looks the real deal, there was one on E-bay Europe last year, engraved with a lady pro's name, it went for only £500!

I may be an idiot - just ask my wife!! - but I don't remember Kite putting with much of anything back in the day other than a bulls-eye. Like I said, I didn't follow him like religiously or anything, but every picture I have in my head of him has those coke bottle glasses, wilson staffs, and a bulls-eye putter.

why do everyone, or most of the posts immediately assume that it is not real or that the guy getting this from a pro is too odd.

Do pro golfers only have other pro golfers as friends. can they have non pros as friends?

are they not allowed to have friends who live in NJ? could their friends move from texas to NJ? or is that not allowed.

can pro's give things to friends who for whatever reason, decades later, sell it? maybe a falling out. maybe need the money.
