Info (including its name) from the man himself. Pix inside!
Hi everyone,

I just got back from taking some pix at the Sony Open. I bumped into Scotty while I was there and talked to him about his new putter. I thought I'd share what I learned.

The new putter model is called the "KOMBI" - like the old Volkswagon. It stands for "Combination."

Weighting will be adjustable. Available lengths will be 33", 34", and "35".

Scotty said the pricing will be right in line with the rest of the retail line so I'm assuming that means around $300.

Release to the public is in April. The putter will be officially unveiled at the PGA show.

Here are the pics...

THe one that JB used was the one Scotty used to win the Club Championship at the Bridges. Not sure if its like this one or an earlier version

you would think that after the studio stainless, design and select and even buttonback that Scotty would be done with dots, but apparently not, he is as dot-happy as ever!

plus it looks too much like the Craz-E, I think the Craz-E looks better anyway

True..but those dot's make them recognizable from across the practice putting green. Although the design has been used before...like all Camerons...he's attempted to perfect it and make it more user friendly to the masses.

I'm sure it'll be a qulity piece of metal to actually play.

But based on the pics it doesn't inspire me. Pretty crude and lumpy in fact. But maybe this is just a pre-production sample and the finished marketed article will be a bit more refined?

    Yuckity yuck yuck . . . I don't like it.

I'll betcha it's made out of aluminum, too, which I've never liked in a putter.

    you have a good point.

I noticed the positioning of the three weights on the putter, maybe heavier ones in different places to adjust the putter slightly?? just a thought

Why not - everybody copies from everybody. Very few is original in design these days.

Maybe because it's hard to improve on already perfection. Scotty just tries to make a dime and produce a putter with great balance & feel and a some what personal look to it.

If it performs, I might even consider buying it. Hated how the Ping Craz-E looked, llike the KOMBI design much better - especially if the end retail model will have a sight dot on the top line as well image/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Ok I see a little resemblence to the Craz-E...but add that luge/bobsledder looking thing on there Scotty C and you're bordering copywright infringement!

Ah well not my cup of tee, I've seen worse looking putters...

    Great Pics TracyS!
