Ecco golf shoes

Recommended Posts

size?
I know the last topic below this was on shoes, but it looked fairly old so I thought I'd start a new one.

I haven't bought Ecco golf shoes before and I was looking at the Ecco Classic Hydromax golf shoes online. I found them in a local PGA Tour Superstore, but they didn't carry them in the couple sizes I wanted to try. Does anyone know how the sizes run since they don't really come in the half sizes? Long or short? Wide or narrow?
My Footjoys I have now are a 6, medium. Last time I tried Nike's, they were too narrow. I'm wondering if I should get the 5/5.5 or 6/6.5, and how the width would compare...

Thanks for any input!

I have tried ECCO's on a number of occasions, I like the look and most folks say they are the most comfortable shoe around. Here's what I found, they have a roomy toe box, (nike is also to narrow for me, I do have a pair of junior boys that are very comfortable though) but the sizing is off. They come in a dual size ( I wear an 8) and I can't get a good fit either way, up or down. Maybe if you buy them smaller and stretch them? But it would be such a waste of $ if it doesn't work..Just my opinion.

I had a similar experience, although these are supposed to be great shoes, I never felt they fit properly. I wear a size 8 and (IIRC) size 38 was too small and size 39 was too big. Next time I get a chance I'm going to try the larger size with a thicker sock to see if I can get comfortable.

It's not how...it's how many

I kind of feel better that I am not the only woman who wears a size 8 shoe who does not fit well into a 38 or 39 Euro. I would think that a 39 with a thicker sock is more comfortable, unless the 38 with a super thin sock gives enough toe box room. If the shoe is too big, then my feet sweat and slide (hot in Florida) and I get blisters.

So I am commiserating with you.

Thanks for the input! That's exactly what I was worried about, being in between sizes with them. I don't think it's going to be worth the extra money if I have to make the shoes fit...I'll see if I can't try a couple of different styles within the brand first to see how the sizes run for me. I don't plan on trying a thicker sock during a Texas summer though :)

Speaking of socks, what kind do you find holds up best in the heel area against abrasion?

I was wondering if the really thin liner-type socks (marketed for runners) would actually be better than thicker socks?

I prefer the thinner socks, which work well with most of my golf shoes. I like them thinner, but I like the top part to be high enough at my ankle that the shock does not fall back into the shoe. I got some thin Powersox at Dicks Sporting Goods. I think they are Dicks brand, but made by Golf Toe. I also got some Adidas socks that are a little cushiony on the bottom, but thin on the top part. I prefer running/workout socks to golf socks. Mt low cut golf socks fall back into the shoe at the heal area.

I have 2 pairs of Ecco shoes and the though they are good shoes. I have yet to feel comfort as I wear them. I have had them for 1 year now (roughly) and though I don't wear them every game or practicing I do feel they take much longer to "Break In" as I am still waiting for mine to do just that. The heel is my problem as they create blisters for me. Otherwise they fit fine. I wear the 38 (size 8).

My favorite all time golf shoes are "Soft Joys" they are comfortable.

I bought my wife Ecco golf shoes for this year..

She loves them, tells me that it's the most comfortable golf shoes. She likes them so much, she prefers walking than riding at the golf course.

She used to wear Nike shoes, which she didn't like after a long walk.

I found a deal on Golf Galaxy for $69, they were very classy looking shoes. I think they were the 2006 solheim cup edition (red, white, and blue)..

I too have trouble finding shoes that fit. One tip I will share with you is to try all the shoes the store has in the size that is closest to your size. And make sure both shoes fit. The quality of uniformity of size is non existent. You will find a lot of difference in the fit of the same shoes in the same size and style, even in the same lot.

PS: I would like to find a custom shoe maker that will make a shoe that fits my foot. I believe Footjoy makes custom shoes, but only with custom materials, not in custom sizes.
