probably a nike putter in the works.....................

Doubt it. 66 wins amnd 14 majors would make me not switch. I remember him saying in an interview he uses the Ping grip because that's what he's used to and just prefers the feel.

thenation48, I think there is no doubt that he will never change putters. I read an article a while back that he had Scotty make him some putters as back ups but he said he could never use any of them because they didnt feel anywhere near as good as his gamer. Also if anyone was as pure a putter as him why would you want to change. Also any putter Nike has made so far doesnt even come close to a Scotty not even in the same world as one.

"i didnt watch the coverage, but from what i did see it looked like the bottom of his putter had a raw finish"

I think I saw another post somewhere on here that had close-up pictures of his putter and it looks like it has a raw finish on the sole because he has lead tape on it - Definitely not a Ping.

Tigers back-up is a Nike. Cameron has been unable to produce another putter for Tiger because it is always off in some way. Eventually, the hosel will break off due to being bent some time. As good a player is Tiger is, switching putters when it is essentially the same thing shouldn't be that big a deal. I'm not sure when the Nike will be unveiled, but his Cameron only has a few years left at best.

here's the link - i posted it more than 6 months ago

and he switched to that putter in '99 for sure, prior to that he used a ping answer 2 for some time in '98 when he went between it and the newport that helped him win the '97 masters; for the record he won 13 majors with that putter, not 14

i think he'll keep that putter until he wins 20 majors then retires with the newport 2 he's had for more than a decade...i guess

looks a lot like a ping to me.

Back in the day, something like '01 or '02 (or earlier), Tiger Woods went to Scotty Cameron and asked him to make him a specific putter. Specific length, loft, and weight.

Scotty Makes him a putter. This putter is remarkably close to the PING Anser 2 (stainless steel version) that he was using as an am and for a short time as a professional. Mark O'mera used this putter for years. Since Tiger is a friend of M.O. I think he even borrowed a PING Anser 2 to use in a couple events. This is why it is remarkably close to a PING Anser 2 putter in head shape and dimensions.

Anyway... Scotty Makes him this putter and with the patents expired on the PING putters many of Scotty's putter "creations" look very much like PINGs, only refined a little bit. Tiger asked specifically for this exact style of head. If Scotty would have messed something up, Tiger would have never used the putter and Scotty Cameron may have not had the career that he's enjoyed, because if you fail Tiger once.... he's DONE with you, as far as he's concerned.

Tiger gets the putter...... Tiger likes the putter.... Tiger WINS with the putter! Tiger stays with the putter, since he doesn't change things that work.

I'm sure that Nike has tried and tried to put him in a Nike putter. However, that Cameron putter has worked for him so well he will NEVER get rid of it.

End of story.

It's the same Scotty Cameron custom GSS Newport 2 Tiger Woods putter. There may even be a couple of backups somewhere at his home, but this one has always stayed in the bag. The Cherry Dot in the heel has lost it's red color over the years.

He won the 97' Masters with a Tei3, not sure if it was a Newport or Newport 2.

Believable........... but I dissagree.

If Nike could have made him a putter that he felt he could use and was better than what he is currently using, he would have swtiched already! No question about it!! I'm sure they hate the fact he's using a Titleist Cameron putter and the top Nike staff member!

Scotty has already adjusted Tigers putter a few times due to something being "off" due to a gentle bit of encouragement that Tiger has given the putter towards his golf bag.

Scotty Cameron putters are soft enough to bend almost 180* without breaking. Even the Stainless Steel ones. Sure, I give the point that if the hosel is bent back and forth a bunch of times that the metal might fail at some point. There is also the possibility that the putter could get stolen or damaged in another way.

I don't think that he will switch until he has to. That putter has made more money than just about ANY golf club in the world... EVER!

It would be like losing his father all over again. His carrer has mostly been built on that very putter.

If he's used a Nike version, it has only been in practice rounds or practice sessions.... and not for very long, I would assume.

True!

Then he used a couple of variations of some Cameron Newports! Platinum finish, raw finish, etc.

Then he shortly went back to a PING Anser 2 Stainless Steel. Might have been his, might have been one of Mark O'mera's. This was back in the mid to late 1990's.

Tiger had NOT YET jumped from Titleist to Nike...... Remember that, it's an important point. He started his Pro career with Titlest and Cameron had just gone to Titleist to make putters for them in mass production.

Scotty made Tiger a Cameron Custom that was almost the same as a PING Anser 2. He did use one of these PINGs to win a US Am which is why he went back to one for a short time because he wasn't putting well enough for him and he was looking for a "feel" he wasn't getting with the carbon steel Cameron's he'd been using.

does tiger's deal with nike give him some stock? I remember Jordan's deal was basically ALL stock.

Tiger's next Nike deal will include partial ownership of the company.

When is TW due to sign a new Nike deal? You may see him dial in a Nike putter when this happens. That is the one club everyone can hut as far a TW..,
