Why do I always buy the same putter???

Any others like me?
I figured I would use this forum for therapy and ask the question why I always buy the same putter style. First off, I am a HORRIBLE putter. I have ZERO confidence in my ability to putt. The rest of my game is fine but I cannot seem to get any better at putting. I've taken lessons and I can't seem to get myself to believe I can make anything outside of 2 feet. Like every club ho, I keep trying to buy that "magic stick", but it always looks the same. Right now in my stable of putters, I have 3 anser 2's (becu, beni, ss), a newport 2, neport 2 tei3, and a redwood anser. I own a designed by Cleveland blade just because I like the look and a Ping Crazy E G5i because my wife wanted it and has now given it to me and she bought a Redwood ZB. I have been sitting here about to place an order for either a Byron or C&L and just started wondering why I spend money after money on the same looking putter. Please help!!! Are there any others like me who keep doing the same thing?

Well I know this much.......I bet I have owned over 200 different Anser type putters and at times have putted well with them. Ive owned many other putters too and at times been a good putter with them. That being said I have been told by my regular playing partners that THE BEST I have ever putted was with a Scotty Cameron PP Big Sur Long putter, and with various other long putters but I would give them up due to poor distance control. Right now Im using a Rossa Spider Belly converted to a long putter and I think I just may be done. I will always love the look of an Anser but just to look.

practice. i am not kidding

i hav Yes! callie blade putter, but i actually wanted scotty's

my putting was off as soon as i started doubting my putter.

BUT! i read an article about trusting my clubs.

so i went to the putting green (actually huge putting green at the course) and practiced 4 hrs straight.

all i had was my putter, 4 balls, and a bottle of water (it was hot that day...94' i think haha)

first 2 hrs was painful. i pushed, pulled, and even hit the putt FAT!

but after series of putting, i got my "midas touch" back!

i started to drain every single putts, or right next to the hole.

Then i regained by confidence, my putt per round went down and down as low as 27!

(the day i shot my personal record 69).

So! practice! thats all u gotta do! :D

hope this helps :)

I have the same problem. I have a Newport Beach, Newport 2 midslant select, PP Midslant Newport, Circa #3, Studio Design 1.5, and a couple ansers. I was actually talking to someone the other day and came to the same conclusion....too many of the same style. I know they are all different but I think anything I add now (unless I take away one that I have) needs to be atleast a little different. Maybe a mid-mallet, maybe closer to a mills, or maybe a B60, or maybe something along the lines of a Bettinardi BEM.

Just my opinion. I know people that have 100 'anser' style putters and say that they are all very different....for me, I only need about 10.

I always sucked too, but then again, I never practiced that much other than a few putts before a round. However, a recent putting lesson convinced me that I can be a darn good putter with a bit of practice. That lesson in conjunction with practicing on the putting green at least two times per week for an hour or so each day with two tees in the ground to make a small "gate" the putter has to pass through along with an alignment stick to help me practice what "square" alignment truly looks like. Don't forget to practice your distance control. I always spent 5-7 hours a week hiting balls and ignored putting and chipping. I can see an EASY 5-10 strokes coming off my game quickly without chipping long/short/over the green and 3-4 putting a few holes each round. Give it 4 weeks of practice along with a fresh putting lesson and it could only get better. A small tweak of your posture can make a huge difference. Good luck....
