I asked for this review because I've been playing the gunmetal 900's in 52 and 58 (both standard bounce) since pre-release and I wanted to see what everyone here thinks of them.

These wedges have more staying power in my bag than any other club. The average club in my bag lasts barely a season. These have been in for 6 years. I just can't seem to find a suitable replacement, although the time has come because the grooves are gone.

I just love the feel of these wedges. They seem to be the perfect combination of weight, size, and grind. Love the gunmetal finish too.

I have a 56* in the 900 BRZ but I don't normally carry it. I'm a little dissapointed in the finish on the BRZ...seems to be wearing off too quickly.

But as I said, the 900 gunmetals are amazing in all categories...function, durability, looks.

i won a tour action 900 54 degree, a while back, and was never really a gap wedge person, after hitting about 3 shots with it i was convicned it'll never leave my back nor can anything replace it. The look is nice, but the feel is so much better. 100% good club.

Today a good friend of mine called me up and said he met a Cleveland rep who had been canned recently and that he gave him a box of 7 or 8 assorted chrome 900 Tour Action wedges to use for prizes at our yearly scramble or give to friends, etc. Needless to say, I had pick of the litter and took a 56 degree sand wedge...nice. Made my weekend. Gotta love when that happens. Perfect timing because I was planning to pick up a new SW in the next few weeks. Too bad there wasn't a driver in that box too.

Anyway, I have read several online reviews and most of them are glowing. Cleveland doesn't keep outdated club specs on their website, but from what I have researched the bounce is 16 degree. We're not talking the low bounce version. Is the 16* correct? I have been looking for a wedge that can handle the wet sand of the Pacific NW and my steep (digger) swing from za bunkah. Good tool for this job? Thanks.

I own (6) in total and have been playing (4), the 46*, 52*, 56* (alternate between the 12* & 16* bounce) since introduction and the 60* until I wore the grooves out and had to replace with a CG10. They are awesome wedges though it looks like I am going to have to move on to a new model when I wear out all of the ones I have.

I have a 54 low bounce, chrome. I am going to have to replace it before long, I've tried everything and nothing has the feel or the versatility. I have shots that I rely on that I can't play with any other wedge and can't work out why, it's a little more open at address than most wedges but I just hit the thing, i'm not very knowledgeable about the technical side of clubs.

Does anyone know a little more about re-grooving it or know who does that in the Uk ?

Cheers in advance for any replies.

I've only played, and still use, the 46* RTG. I haven't found anything better to replace it. It's better from firm turf. I've had it for a few years and still love it. Can make it do whatever you want- draw, fade, run, stop or come back. This thing is nasty good.

i've had a 900 54* in the bag since 2002... completely wore out my old one, tried the ping tour and just no... luckily i stopped by golfsmith and they are hawking these gems for 70$

so i hopped back on the bandwagon and this wedge is simply the best.

a little more round and less of a high toe than the vokeys, but a more compact shape than the 588's

54* is great from sand, or for chipping its a monster back in the stance for a lil bump and run, but can still open it up. normal bounce version is great for soggier / fluffier conditions...

all in all, until i find something that suits my eye better, this wedge is in the bag for the foreseeable future.

Got a deal on a Gunmetal 60 degree and am very pleased with feel and the way it frames the ball. I have the standard bounce, but with the trailing edge I can still open it up and hit the flopper. The only complaint is the grooves are not what the new wedges offer. I can't get my four piece ball to "bite" on little check shots. I would recommend this wedge to anyone.

Resurrecting this post.
900 Tour Action "rusty" is the best wedge I have ever used. The 54* has been in my bag for so long I can't remember when I got it. Late 90s early 2000s? Wish they would make it again. Do not like the new 588s at all. The Vokey SM4 oil can is the closest thing I've found to it and it's pretty darn good.

I just posted about these wedges. Found a Craig's list deal for three brand new TA 900's (50, 56, 60) and he wanted $10 each for them. Checked them out and they're legit. Couldn't get the money out fast enough!

The Cleveland 900 series wedges are my favorite all time wedge. I tried replacing these with the Cleveland CG10s and the CG15s but were not impressed and they didn't stay in the bag very long. Eventually turned to the Titleist Vokey Design wedges. These Vokeys are now about 6 years old and need replacing, really I just want to replace them. Has anyone tried the new Cleveland RTX 588 2.0 versions (both cavity back and muscle back) and also used the 900 series and can compare these? Are either of the RTX 588 2.0s comparable to the old 900 series from Cleveland?

Not that it matters to my game since I don't play many tournaments anymore, but are these wedges conforming to the new groove rules? They're new but I'm sure that means unused older stock and not newly manufactured, hence old non-conforming grooves.

Unfortunately, 900's don't meet 2010 groove rules. Didn't know-but I don't play in tournaments either. Will be looking at Cally Mack Daddy 2's next year.
