2009 JDM TM Forged TP

Recommended Posts

Just came across these today on TSG. I think they look a little better than last year, what do you all think?

Description:

Taylormade introduces their all new TP Forged Iron for the Japanese market. This soft S25C forging features a straighter toe, more trailing edge relief, a less protruding cavity and a straighter neck than last years model. Taylormade decided to go with a cleaner look with just the TP badge in the cavity for this model and results are stunning! The TP Forged with its compact size and low offet is aimed at the better player looking for feel and control. The new TP forged is finished in a Nickel Chrome Satin and features sand blasted cavity and forged grooves. The face is glass bead blasted for extra bite and friction on contact.

different market has different tastes that is all. you can really sell american ideas to japanese people. vice versa. therefore you must convert american ideas into japanese ideas, hence the different designs for japanese golf products. i bet the japanese are probably like us to "damn, why do americans have different models/clubs than us?"

Sure, there is no reason to bring attractive, forged irons to the US market.

Not when we can get irons from TM that look like Ronald McDonald's third grade class designed the graphics.

PS. the milled backs go horizontal across the back. It is an optical illusion / photography that made it look diagonal.

Great looking clubs ,,, I' like the square toe look!

They have a hint of the infamous Lehman Box Toes set..... Nice!

God Bless

I think they look INCREDIBLY similar to the American 05 TP's.

Agreed - the US 2005 TP's have a raised weight pad in the center of the club face, which these do not have.

I have the 08's and they are awesome. Would consider these, but they have less offet than the 08's, but for me, the 08's have a perfect amount of offset.

Heck, may pick up a set anyway.

Looks like the lines go diagonal...vs horizontal. Not really seeing a difference other than that. Why oh why are there different clubs in Japan by a USA manufacturer...know it has been discussed a million times.

Curious..... what do TM manufacture in the US? Not assemble, or put on stickers, but manufacture.

if i m not mistaken, the amount of offset is GREATER in these 2009's vs. the 2008's. JDM measures in face progression and the 2008's go from 2.4mm-4.1mm, while the 2009's go from 3.2mm- 5.2mm. correct me if i'm wrong, but the larger the number, the more the leading edge is away from the hosel.

Every time I think I understand face progession, I need to go back and review the basics. I hope its OK to link to another site. If not, mods, accept my apology and delete.

That thread does a great job of describing face progression.

A quote from the thread - "To make things simple FP is a different measurement that can be used to calculate offset. The higher the FP number the less offset there is. "

So based on this, the 2009 does have less offset.

Keep in mind face progression is based off of the hosel size/diameter as well. Not just the offset
