Swingweight question

I know that I should know more about this but can you help me out. How important is swingweight? I'm thinking of ordering a set of Ping I5's w/CS Lite shafts. I've been told that the come standard with a C9 swingweight and that I should special order them to come in at D2. I've also been told that I should get the PW and UW at D4. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I got my I5's with the DG r300 at swing weight of D3. The cs lite will give you a higher ball flight, thats why I went to the DG, nice medium flight with no balooning. This has been a great combination for me, can work the ball both ways and with nice flight.

in my opinion swingweight is a personal thing. i have som S59's at D0, and like the feel. The clubfitter I goto has some I5's at D4, but they feel way too heavy for me. I think a heavier swingweight helps you feel where the clubhead is through the swing, where a very light swingweight can lead to losing track of the clubhead.

A slightly heavier swingweight in wedges is typical for off the shelf clubs.

I would say goto a local fitter or shop and ask to hit a few clubs w/ different swingweights.
