Quick wedge question

I have 4 wedges in my bag, a 48°, a 51°, a 54° and a 60°. my question is that having a 6° gap between my last two wedges is a big gap and i have a 56° at home that i could add. Do you think this will make them to close together in loft or will this be ok? I would drop the 60° for the 56° if i was to do this.

I play four wedges; the lofts are 47, 51, 56, 60. I like a lot of loft around the greens. Some time back I bent the 56 to 54 and dropped the gap wedge. I recommend keeping the 54 if you depend on it for full shots or approaches. If not the 4 degree gap between the 56 and 60 is very playable.

Why don't you give a three wedge set up a try - I've found a 48 pitch, 52 or 53 gap (depending on what make I'm playing - Mizuno MP T or Vokey) and 58 sand / lob combo to be ideal for just about any on course situation. If you want loft near the green then laying open the face of a 58 is just as effective as having a pure 60 degree lobber. The 3 wedge loft gaps on this set up are ideal - for me anyway, and I see a lot of fellow players who hardly ever use their lob wedge but still carry it in the bag. The more wedges you carry the more confused you can get. I like to think of my choices as straight pitch, in between and sand / airtime. That's my three halfpence worth anyway.

I totally agree with drawmerchant! I carried 46-51-56-60 last year, but I am much happier now with 48-53-58.
