AGT AURORA DRIVER 1st impressions.

:D :vava: I bought into the hype and bought an aurora driver. I now have a 9.5 with a stiff graffalloy comp NT proto shaft. The finish and workmanship of this club are top notch and the comp NT shaft is pretty stable and smooth. Much better than the graffaloy blue and prolaunch. The club has an explosive feel at impact and when hit correctly goes as far or farther than anything out there. BUT there is a major problem. .... This head says 9.5 on the bottom, but my guess is the loft is 8 degrees at most. Id bet more in the 7-8 degree range. 9.5 or 10 is a perfect loft for me. I havent had the head measured yet , but the estimate Ive gotten is from 5 to 7.5 degrees. I really like the design of this head, and wont make a guess to true loft until I get it measured. I have hit an 8 degree 300 tour holy grail with an S speeder 757 , and see much more loft on the face. Stay tuned.

Here is an update on the AURORA head. I finally got the club measured and the loft is between 6.9 and 7 degrees. Not good QC for a 9.5 loft. The club is well made and if I got the true 9.5 loft it would be awesome. I'm amazed I could hit the 6.9 at all. I know you can have variance issues with TI heads but 2.5 degrees is a hell of a lot.

Wow. Quite a difference from the stated loft. I just got one in the mail, 9.5 with Prolaunch. Havent tried it yet, but this has gotten me pretty worried...

I hope you have better luck than I did. I would hate for this to be a pattern. I talked to Steve and he agreed to exchange mine. I'm waitng for the 10.5 to be out before I do this. This is such a well made head. Even at 6.9 degrees I can get fair height, but Im just not consistant with a loft this strong.

I just went to a local clubmaker. He used a club protractor to measure the loft. Didnt charge anything. You might not have the problem. Unfortunately I spotted mine right out of the box as the face looked almost as flat as a putter looking down at address. If you have another 9.5 to 10 degree driver and you know you get a decent trajectory compare the faces side by side. If the loft angle looks close you wont have a problem.

The club quality is great. Its super solid. The fact that at 6.9 degrees I could get some decent height, and when I timed the swing killer distance says something for the launch effectiveness of this club. However I like higher lofted drivers , 9 degrees is the minimum I would hit. Im on the east coast and I wish I had access to hand pick a head, but when I talked to Steve he said nothing was nearby. I am waiting until the 10.5 heads are out and will exchange this club and hope the replacement head has decent loft. Let me know how yours came out.

I have a 9.5 shafted with a ZCom MW54 - haven't measured the loft but have no problems with height, similar to my Mizu MP-001 400cc 10 deg w/553. Actually, a bit higher.

Very long and solid driver - feels great.

The MW54 is a fabulous shaft. Im glad the aurora head you have has worked out. Im hoping mine was an exception. When I exchange mine to get the correct loft the mw54 will be my shaft of choice also.

All I can tell you is that my combo is longer than any OEM I've tried -- and I try them all on demo days. I am sure there are longer heads from component manuf. but the Aurora is a quality club - great feel, not too heavy or light.

But I also play the Supernovas - the 3, 5 and at times, the 7 wd, are all in the bag.
