My pro let me try a new driver

Recommended Posts

Should I use it monday?
Well, I had a lesson today and my pro let me hit a couple of drivers to see if it was my current driver that was causing me extremely high trajectory, not my swing. Well, the one I hit the best, and lowest, was a Srixon W-302 9.5* w/a Graffaloy Blue stiff shaft. Gave me and extra 20-40 yds almost right away.

So he let me take it home with me and play with it until I see him again. So after a day of hitting balls on the range and 12 holes, I still hit it 20-40 yds farther than my current driver, but my misses are noticeably bigger. Most likely because of the 420 cc head size. I mean, with my Comp, I'm almost never out of the fairway, except I am really, really short. But with this driver, every once in awhile, I miss it and I'll be really far out of the fairway. But most of the time when I do hit it well, I am in the fairway 20-40 yds past my other driver.

So I guess my question for you guys is, should I use this driver for our meet on monday? Or should I stick with the driver I have right now and be in the fairway but super short.

All help will be appreciated
-Kyle :stop:

I doubt the reason you dont hit it strait is because it is 40cc's smaller. Go with the long driver, because you cant scare the kids youre playing if you cant hit it far.

Scare the kids? Since when do you play against others in a stroke play tournament? You play against the course unless you are tied or coming down the stretch.

Even stoke play, you are effected by the people you play against.

It's something you or whoever needs to get over quick if you want to be good. You can't let others influence your play. Who cares how far someone in your group hits it...are they scoring well? Have confidence in your own game and play within yourself.

thats a great way to approach the game, but not everyone operates that way.

Thanx for all the help guys. Actually, I demoed 5 or 6 drivers yesterday and decided on a Callway Fusion FT-3 Tour 9.5*. It has given me the same launch characteristics as the Srixon, with the forgiveness of the Comp. I know, I might've been a little to pass on the Srixon, but I loved this Callaway way too much to pass it up. :cheesy:

Also, we were supposed to have that meet today, except the other team didnt even show up. So it has been resheduled for tomorrow. I will be using the Callaway and I'll let you guys know how I do.

Needless to say, there will probably be a Cleveland Comp w/a Fuji Vista Tour on ebay in a little while :cheesy:
