I play one, though it's set up as a driving iron rather than matching the rest of a set. I've got blade irons, but use a rac OS 2 iron with a Prolaunch Blue shaft.

I find I am much more comfortable with it than I am with a hybrid (though I am yet to try a Halo) and I can usually rip it off the tee. It's been misbehaving a bit lately though - it better lift it's game, or a hybrid may be on the way. :)

I alternate between my TM300 2 iron and a King Cobra Forged SS 2 iron. The Cobra is more forgiving but flies higher... it might get the spot back permanetly. Hybrids and I do not get along and everyone says swing it like an iron and not a wood but I personally like my game with my 2 iron so I think the hybrids are safe from my bag for now. I personally do not give two hoots what tour players play...I play what works for me and brings me enjoyment.

I think it is a generation thing - a lot of players now grew up with playing the old blades during the time it wasn't uncommon for people to have 1-LW or 2-LW in the same type of irons.

With the younger generation, they have grown up with more lofted fairway woods and hybrids, and maybe it is a more natural thing to use them (people think, "oh, who doesn't use hybrids").

Just one person's opinion. I don't play a 2 iron, but have hit one and I can hit it ok.

I read a great quote once about 2-irons, "Most players can't hit 'em, the ones who can shouldn't."

I keep a 2-iron for a few reasons: (1) One day my children might want to know what it was like hitting a long approach onto a green prior to the advent of the hybrid; (2) It is a handy weapon for hitting that jerk in the group behind you who keeps hitting into you; and (3) it is a great lightning repellent in case you get caught in a thunderstorm (just hold it up high in the air because even god can't hit it).

But for hitting that low stinger nothing beats a 2-iron (except for a hybrid or a fairway metal, that is).

I used to have a 2 iron, just felt like i was better with my rescue 18 degree. So know i keep that in there unless it is a course that i dont need the rescue and i will put in a 54 degree wedge.

Just got a 2 iron to match my set (PING I5's ). I was using a rescue club but I don't think I hit it any better than a 2, just seems eaasier to control the 2.

Yep, still play my Eye2 2 iron on occasion. I can't get consistant enough with a hybrid or a 5 wood, so I still play it. I can control it or it controls me more than a hybrid.

The problem I had with hybrids is distance control and hooking. Maybe it's just me, but every hybrid I've had travels a lot further than the iron it replaces. Typically, my 3 iron is about 205-210, but a 3h is easily 210-225. Therefore if I were to buy another hybrid, I would replace it with the club one up than what the hybrid should replace. For example, If I bought a 3h, it would have to replace my 2 iron or if I bought a 4h, it would replace my 3 iron and so on.

I may venture out and buy another hybrid in the next week or so. I think I still have room in the bag to carry it without having to replace it with another club.

yeap, i love my 2 iron. i've recently bought a new set of 695mb and ordered a 2 iron to complete my set. i've tried several hybrids but i didn't like it. it's a personal preference and it's funny how many people ask if i can hit when they see it.
